So another country joining the technology revolution. But for me for bitcoin to truly go mainstream. Countries like US or UK and other first world country should be in the forefront. I'm wondering why other countries specially Asia is leading the way? Europe, not much, only a few country is signaling its support to bitcoin.

This is really good news indeed. However, Antigua & Barbuda is a tiny Caribbean island . And the way I understand it, they want to embrace bitcoin because of its application in on-line gambling.

"This, after a group connected with the Antigua Leisure & Gaming Association met with Cabinet, on Wednesday, to discuss and share knowledge and experience on a new method of transacting the sale of goods and services, which is known as the Bitcoin technology."

“The currency benefits us in Antigua & Barbuda in respect to our Internet gaming sector. It will allow us,the satisfaction needed as a jurisdiction in respect to questions that would be asked of us in the Global Environment,” Greene said.

They want a piece of the action, specially using bitcoin as mode of deposit/withdrawal in on-line gaming. This is a nice move for this tiny island, because it is one of the very first gambling jurisdiction to begin offering licenses to interactive gaming and wagering companies. And since bitcoin is gaining popularity in the gambling industry, it makes sense for them to adopt and legalized bitcoin in their country.

I want more offshore tax-free islands and countries to adopt bitcoin and blockchain. There are a few thrillion dollars in offshore zones and some of them might be used for buying btc to store value or increase anonymity.
Bitcoin will be adopted in small countries first...

Quote
He added that what is of interest to the country is the fact that “this new currency is immutable; you can always go and trace transactions, so in the context of allegations of our country being involved in tax havens, it allows for better traceability”.

What the hell?

He is embracing bitcoin to trace transactions?
The guy is nuts.

They have problems being labeled a tax haven they they want to get rid of that?
Don't they realize that they will turn into a dump once they get rid of the money laundering?

We should really do a test with him. Show him two pieces of pie and let him choose which one is bitcoin.
I doubt he has a clue what bitcoin really is.

That is exactly why Russia want to embrace, legalize and regulate bitcoin, to have more control over BTC. Personally I don't care, as long as it will push adoption further.
The Finance Ministry in Russia has announced its plans to make Bitcoin transactions legal within the country.

What governments are really doing in the case of Bitcoin is merely adjusting their laws to reality. It's the people using Bitcoin, not governments. The whole regulation serves no productive purpose other than hinder free trade, spy on citizens and to extract taxes.

If bitcoin wouldn't be decentralized, it would have been shut down already because it threatens the monopoly of power of governments. Luckily, bringing Bitcoin under control is not that easy (Roger Ver, Jinhan Wu are trying hard...), so we can enjoy this innovation that has a great potential to transform our way of living for the better.

To see how bitcoin could be accepted and legalized in some countries as it is the most  precious and sought after by traders which has great potential to grow up bigger on the future and become a mainstream digital currency.
Decentralized system of bitcoin doesn't harm and government has nothing to worry if they regulated bitcoin and exchanges in order to prevent illegal activities.
