hey guys
i've just got the baikal CUBE, powered it up, but after an hour or two, i was already thinking about changing the fan

luckily, i've had some fans from my earlier experiences with PCs, etc.. most of them the same dimensions, as the one used on CUBE
1 - first of all - you should use a fan, that has a 4 pin connector
2 - problem is, the connector of the original fan is most likely thinner than the ones used in PC fans.. so what i've done, was to remove a part of the connector (check the image)

.. you can see that there's a missing part of the white connector (on the CUBE board) so the wider fan connector (black) now fits..
i've powered the CUBE, expecting anything

but.. everything works fine.. it's significantly quiter than the original fan, although to my ears - it's still a bit loud.. temps are roughly the same (40C - 41C)
i've used the fan from Gelid REV.2 TRANQUILLO cooler
will try also one from Acutake, and one from Noctua (NF-A9x14 PWM - this one is smaller, but it will be nice to see, if it's able to cool the CUBE.. but i doubt it)
i can post my findings, if anyone is interested..
it would be great to somehow overclock this beast - anyone had any luck with this?
