I have a wallet.dat which generated a Bitcoin address.
I successfully sent Bitcoins to this address.

Before using the wallet.dat I stored it in a save location.

If I now use the stored wallet.dat my Balance is 0.00 but if I move the current wallet.dat back to the bitcoin app folder my Balance is ok.

Is it possible to retrieve the new balance with the previously stored wallet or do I have to backup my wallet every time a change in Balance has been made?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Try running the client with the "-rescan" parameter.

Thanks.
It worked. Had to be a bit patient until it came up.
