Hey guys this is my first ever build I'm only testing it with 1 GPU before I invest in more and I've ran into a problem, I boot windows up perfectly but when installing the drivers for my GPU I get a black screen when I restart, I don't know why it does this I've tried several different ways to get this working, the drivers I'm installing came with the GPU, my build is

ASUS 7970
ASROCK Z97 Anniversary
8GB Ram
750W CX Corsair

Thanks for reading and I hope someone can assist me!

Your drivers that came with your GPU nowadays I guess are old. Why not try to download the latest AMD Catalyst driver from the official website and let me know here after you do.

Here is the link to the official website to download AMD video card drivers:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-7000-Series-Drivers.aspx

Here is a link to assist you in installing the latest driver for your video card.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Install.aspx

Hope this helps.

Hey thanks for the quick reply, I've also tried installing the updated version 17 using the relive crimson which detects the drivers for me, and also used 15.12 but still I get a black screen on restart, right now my GPU detects on the device manager as VGA Display adapter, when I get a black screen and I restart in safe mode in my device manager it tells me there a ASUS 7970, although it won't boot up normally with it like that.

EDIT: I'm also running Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 64

I hope you don't plan on mining Bitcoin with your GPUs.

Highly doubt anyone with more then 5 braincells would think that they'd be able to think that they'd be making money with any sort of GPU mining with Bitcoin, even if its some crazy top of the line card. I would think he's going to be trying some sort of Altcoin mining as that is something that is currently profitable due to the altcoin bubble growing and growing.

Goodluck though bud - Update drivers.

You looking in the wrong place. You should look at forum for graphics cards and driver's. Try gaming forums those will be your best option. Sounds like it's just a driver issue like people above have said. Black screens are common for driver problems. Perhaps your gpu is not powered enough ? Is everything connected properly ? You need to give us new info do we can help you.
