Btc Stuck for 8 hours still no confirmation

Ive done a couple of transactions before but this is the biggest one ive done. so when i tried transferring the btc to a helix its been stuck in "waiting for 2 confirmations". On electrum it says low fee but im not sure what i need to do to fix it? help a poor noob please xD

You need to increase the fee. I dont have electrum open right in front of me but I believe there is a option to increase the fee when you right click on the unconfirmed transaction.

I guess the transaction isnt replaceable. Do you see a "Child Pays For Parent"? You might have to export the private key, sign the transaction with a higher fee, and rebroadcast it (aka double spending). Otherwise you would have to wait until it is dropped out of the mempool.

Once sent there is no adding fee's or reversing......main issue I have with BTC nowadays....long confirmation times  

2-3 years ago the times were half as long as now......

You would think with the network having sooo many miners that the times would be reduced.....

This is a common issue lately. Either wait a little more if your transaction isn't urgent or look into how to spend the coins with a higher fee. You'll probably need to export the private key to a more advanced wallet for the second alternative.

The way I did it before was I would export the private it from the wallet (for me back then, it was armory), import it into bitcoin core (using bitcoin-cli, though I believe you can also do it via GUI), signed the transaction with a higher fee and broadcast it. If there is 1 confirmation, then it wont allow you rebroadcast that transaction. If you are unsure, you are welcome to google it or search the forum for answers before attempting.

EDIT: Read https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1691720.msg16974297#msg16974297 . That should give you an idea. If you are not sure, do not attempt it to make sure you dont lose your coins.

I agree. Though I havent had any slowdowns lately with confirmation, I have had my share of it, and with miners and these large pools, you would think it would be confirmed in a short time. I think fake transactions are sent to the network which could increase the amount of unconfirmed transactions and slowing everything down. Sucks though. Kind of why I wish segwit or some real solution would come to bitcoin. Stuff like this make businesses look the other way when it comes to bitcoins.

Ok,save your dat file.It is here when you enable Show Hidden Folders:

C:\Users\yourpcname\AppData\Roaming\bitcoin

Now download the new version from here,select your OS.

Run it until it is caught up to date,if your wallet addy & info is not there,exit the wallet then go & paste your dat file over where the old one was,restart BTC wallet,violia!!!  

BTW,save that dat file in several places (flashdrives,old HDDs kept offline,a PC/laptop that does not go online),IT IS YOUR ONLY WAY TO RECOVER YOUR WALLET.............

Once sent you cannot resend or retrieve a transaction,it is done good or bad there is NO reversing.So be damn sure of the addy your sending to (Triple check & check again)............main reason bitcoin will never replace credit cards.........
