https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/68nh7q/knock_knock_police_you_have_bitcoins/

I think this deserves it's own thread, and it shows how much we need Confidential Transactions, CoinJoin, Schnorr sigs, Mimblewimble, and whatever else we can do to improve fungibility of bitcoin.

The fear of ending up in trouble due owning BTC that may have been connected to criminal activity in the past is a very reasonable concern.

How do we solve this? Tone Vays already said that he is pretty scared to sell his BTC because he doesn't know if he is going to end up having problems.

Hmm... nowhere in the post does it say police are looking for Bitcoins. In fact, if I understand correctly, it was her EURO transfer that caught attention (her complaining at the end swearing to only use crypto instead of fiat indicates this).

That's a rare occasion, most of these cases there was something else which caught the attention and not just selling or buying BTC.There are so many transactions and people operating with BTC that it would be really hard to look out for everyone of them and think that there is something going on

The shit finally is becoming real it seems. The police wasn't talking about the EURO's she has, they were talking about the bitcoin transactions which is worth more than 12.500€, as i understand.

So that means, they see bitcoin as an equal currency to EUR. Might bring a lot of trouble for German crypto fans in the future.

From her post:
Quote
Now more than ever! Yes GOV, from now i'll never ever sell or buy BTC for more than 12500 Euro. From now i'll buy every crypto with every little new cash I have.

Here we can see the real purpose of KYC/AML regulation: Extort funds from innocent citizen to bolster the funding for the state's oppressive regime. AML is not about fighting crime as it is framed. It's about maintaining the status quo via arbitrary oppression of those who dare to be self-reliant.

Anyone should stay away from the exchanges/banks that collaborated in this act.

Before y'all start talking about how the state robbed someone of their Bitcoins, do some research.
You can obviously tell, just by reading the first comment, that something's fishy here:

OP is basically a drug drealer and police had every right to do what they did.

Did you read up the comments. I don't know why someone posting about dealing drugs online would seek sympathy by pretending to be a short girl after getting raided by police.

Ok, in this case I clearly have to revise my prior assessment. The money laundering charge seems to be just a replacement tool for charges of drug dealing, which can't be easily proven in court because of the anon measures this dealer took.

Though I'd still maintain that these kind of secondary prosecution methods are highly problematic and can easily lead to the conviction and extortion of innocent people.

Then in this case it is totally different. This girl doesn't need to cry if she is related to drug activities ect. The one who can cry are the families victims of people like her selling death with drugs because a member family using drugs, or died because of drugs, ect

Yes it did? Did you not read the whole thing? Money laundering because of a 12,500 Euro transfer. She had sold some bitcoins.

What a clusterfuck for this poor girl/woman. Obviously the larger amount caught their eye. This is why I never change back to fiat. That's obviously how they can steal your money. Good luck getting your hands on my bitcoins.

Don't judge. She could have asked about mixing funds or drugs and it doesn't change anything. We are doing the same thing here. Just check how many topics about drugs, mixers and gambling are on this forum. What would you say if someone got raided because they were supporting legalization of drugs on a Bitcoin related forum?

Exactly. People in the comment section have no proof or whatsoever showing that she is a drug dealer and yet they act like she is one, only based on her posts. I smoke weed all the time when I travel to Amsterdam, i wonder and read stuff about different drugs all the time (i didn't do any hard drugs. never. only weed) just to get informed. And i know about bitcoin too, am i a suspect now? Can police raid my house?

Bullshit.

More to add;

What if she is transferring money overseas? Isn't bitcoin being used for this also? I don't see any crime about that? Are they going to arrest her for not getting raped by Western Union?

Fuck you .!. -.-

She's a known drug dealer that made a $13k public transaction in Silk Road drug money (Bitcoin)?

She needs to be jailed for her own protection. She's so stupid she might accidentally walk in front of a moving car or slit her own throat peeling a potato.

Hahaha wow. That was a little intense don't you think? If you don't think you're being monitored I think you'd let your guard down. I bet she's never going to do that again! Maybe she's a little smarter now.

She fucked up and made a bank transaction over 10,000euro without reporting it to the tax office. You are required to report all transactions over 10,000euro. The only way this is related to Bitcoin is that the transaction was allegedly for buying/selling BTC, but the police raided her because she made bank transactions over 10,000euro without reporting it.

Even drug dealers gotta pay taxes. Did she not learn anything from Al Capone?

I'm not sure Europeans know the story of Al Capone.

Girl using bitcoin.  You know damn well this is fake news!

For the rest of us swinging dicks, try buying Dash or something.   There hasn't been a news article yet where the pigs have confiscated a shitcoin.  Like 99.99% of the population,  I'm sure they don't even know such things exist.

maybe not your average cop on the street, but you can bet people higher up are studying it.

anyway this is nothing to do with crypto and everything to do with euros so it wouldn't matter what coin you used.
