Be careful when you read or hear "some are predicting $$$".

The only definite reason for the run up is because there are more buyers than sellers right now. That's it.

Obviously we want to know more than that, but the challenge with Bitcoin is that it's truly a global market, there's no corresponding fundamentals (like a stock investment), it doesn't have deep media coverage, and given the nature of mining it's a target for price manipulation.

We can speculate all day about what it could be that's driving this current price run, and as the days go on and if the price were to continue to increase we could have multiple factors that influence the price!

Maybe it's just attributed to the growth of the idea of bitcoin. What do you think it could be?

there never was an end to bitcoin price rise! these prices we keep quoting and be happy about are ridiculously low for bitcoin. it should be worth $10,000 at least.

if this rise is indeed because of ETF then it will continue rising up until the day SEC makes the decision (if anyone knows when it is please tell me). and if they approve it, then price will rocket to the moon, even possible to break $2000 but another rejection means another big correction back to possibly $1200 level.

those money didn't went to bitcoin for a reason, they are on the alt to allow investors to pull off more bitcoin, and it doesn't matter how many bubble will burst in the alt scene, new one will always emerge

the altsection is the last beach to acquire tons of bitcoin with little investment, high risky yes, but for now there is only huge profit

i believe bitcoin can rise much higher without waiting for that money to return there, who is not familiar with the alt will invest directly in bitcoin who want more risk in the altscene

I think the reason comes from japan. Japan has proposed a bill for making bitcoin completely legal in the country. Due to this many people are buying it. More the demand, more the price.

lets not get hasty and ahead of ourselves. price is not in $1400 range an there is a <$300 gap to reach $1700 so it won't be "soon" for sure. unless by soon you mean in 6 months then that is a more possible speculation.

although I should add that these days the rising speed depends on a lot of factors. it is not just the regular slow $100 rise each month or so. but now there are a lot of good news, some of them hyped up more than they should, which are contributing to this rise.
we now have 2 big countries which adopted bitcoin (Japan) or at least shown more flexible attitude towards it (Russia). and that was the spark this rise needed.

Key factors behind Bitcoin's price rise:

1.  Rising demand from Japan - but it might be temporary fade that is just going to go away?
For know Japan is testing this new technology and it might be only a flavor of the month kind of thing.

The recent surge in the price in btc in my opinion is caused by the colapse in price in all of the alt markets. People saw that the price of bitcoin had risen caused probably by the massive btc withdrawals from bitfinex and sold their alts and bought btcs. But altcoins are 100% in a bubble! And that bubble will burst sooner or later.
And this could take bitcoin a bit down as well, while alts will completely get crashed. Or this then could trigger a new massive bitcoin bubble because everybody is shifting to Bitcoin.

Current price is overbought, that's for sure. Natural growth takes a reasonable amount of time to reflect in the price, and currently, you can't really talk about natural growth. It's pure speculation and a few other factors that might play an important role. It might be that certain market movers and other traders take positions into Bitcoin because of the ETF review this month that they highly value. It might be Bitfinex traders desperately buying BTC at all cost to cash out their funds.

Yeah, already few exchanges have listed with price tagged above $1600. So $1700 might be a expected one in a short as if the growth takes place in the same  manner. As stated in the quote $2000 is the new milestone because etf approval from SEC is expected this 15th.

For example Litecoin, what is happening to LTC might be something more that usual pump and dump.

It was interesting as I had seen some technical analysis of the trend of bitcoin price.  It waqs determined according to that analysis that if bitcoin crossed $1,300 it would move to $1,700 as you mentioned.  Simply looking at the support and resistance of the pricing on a basic level seems to support this assumption.  The question then becomes whether or not it can sustain a price over $1,700 as new support level or not.

Well, bitcoin doesn't reach $1700 yet, rapidly growth​ to $1670 but has significant increases after that but bitcoin price seems more stable right now. Normal day for bitcoin when it rise and fall due to traders want to extract instant profits. No matter what, it will hold and still increase I guess as bitcoin ETF will review one more time, maybe it has slightly chance but speculation make the price at this level.

i wouldn't put too much faith in the current resistances at this point. a lot of things can change that can cause bitcoin price to go in either direction. there is a speculation saying this price rise was because of news about ETF reconsideration, and if so and if it is rejected again price will go down no matter the resistance.

That's a little too much I think. At best we can hope for the price to stay around $1500 and not drop, but I think most likely the bubble will burst and we will be back to 1300s. But in best case scenario we can see a $2000 price in next 3-4 months.

I also think price will stay around $1500 for some time after this it will move to new ATH. $2000 in next 3 months will be great achievement and I also quite sure about we will see this happen very soon. As so many people are predicting now it has more high chance to get over $5000 before end of 2017.

New money,  and a lot of it, is pouring into crypto.  I have no idea where it's coming from.   My guess is that Wall Street people are taking a personal interest in crypto based on how far prices have risen.  But beware,  because this isn't going to continue indefinitely.

I am sure that the price of bitcoin can reach to $3000 even in the next two months if good time occurred in the way and the investors increased in bitcoin. Unfortunately for us this war of blocksize is mainly just political and if anything some guys could give two less fucks about the price. The chances of an BU hardfork is really slim after the n number times they had issues with their line of codes and people will not really consider using them and if people still think they are capable then they are not fit to understand what is right and wrong when they are dealing with billions of dollars worth of technology on the other hand Segwit is a possibility and if everyone could reach a consensus we could see another rally which would take the price over $2000,if not we will see a correction in a week or two.

You should pay attention to the exchange rate of reputed exchanges such as Bitstamp, and not a joke exchange such as Yobit. With a simple cough that exchange jumps up to levels as $3000. No volume, no liquidity, no buy support, etc.

Why being sad when you have made profits? It doesn't make any sense, unless the profits you sold for were too insignificant. In order to avoid such situations, make sure you never sell all your coins at once. If you're looking to cash out profits, then sell MAX 20% of your coins. In this case it would allow you to benefit even further as the price has gone up. And btw, there is no Bitcoin bubble. Forget about that.

That's my assumption. This is a lot of FOMO from people rushing back to bitcoins, buying at ATHs then when it dips because the ETF is declined again they will dislike bitcoins because they bought @$1900 now they're worth $1300 lol. Not many people (in relative terms) knowing Bitcoin is exactly where you can see a potentially massive amount of growth come from. People go for round figures too much, its allready past 10,000 CNY so $2000 is not the barrier it appears.   I think the price only fell back a bit here because of psychological wariness over 2,000 when its not more significant then the previous numbers.
Price rising now is mostly to do with the block reward halving last year, the effect was delayed as expected.  Also the measures of recognition and possible legitimate trade also gave more allocation in various quarters holdings I think which raises demand in the prices.   Still lacking is a bigger rise in trade and we have a problem where the base protocol needs to adapt, though we have disagreement I see no real reason for bearishness or negativity in price expectations.

Yes, it has reached $1700 now. Maybe $2000 is possible because of all the positive news that we are getting. Latest good news is Australia, who are using likely to adopt and embrace bitcoin this year. I agree, scaling issue is the only roadblock so far, but it is the biggest so far. The price of bitcoin today is more than $1700 and I believe this month or maybe next month or after halving the price of the bitcoin will reach $2000-$3000. If this happen for sure many people in thhe bitcoin world become instant millionaire likr the owner of exvhanges site and the gambling because they earn a lot bitcoin everyday. I hope the price will increase more not dump . More bitcoin to buy more money to come with us.!

Indeed, Bitcoin has already reach the 1700 usd but not only that btc is already exeed that amount and I think before December ends maybe its price is equal to 2000 usd per bitcoin. Its not far from bitcoin to reach that amount especially today because bitcoin is still rising and thanks to japan because they legalize it in their country so that many investors are now investing with big amount of money.

Today the price seems to hover around $1735 - $1750. If this continues for a short time period then we can expect the price to move forward than just continuing to move downwards. Even $1700 is good price to profit all the user base, and the continuing adoption will give an added value in the coming days.

30B$ is no where big already. I think bitcoin has the potential to surpass facebook, microsoft and apple. That means we are still in its early phase. Even if we catch up with Tesla, that means another %100 increase in prices. Doesn't sound impossible to me considering the pump going on lately.

The only thing bothers me is the fees with small transactions. 

Good example. 100B$ is very achievable especially when bitcoin solves some problems and issues circulating them. With or without ETF approval bitcoin is heading there depending on its developments.

I think tesla itself is in a bubble, but bitcoin hasn't penetrated mainstream yet to reach the valuations of facebook, microsoft or apple. 100B$ is achievable but to sustain it we need to get closer to where those three internet companies are in terms of market penetration, right now most people have heard of bitcoin but only a minority have ever used it so the price is still not really secure.

Don't get me wrong I firmly believe we will get there relatively soon especially with all the good news coming out but I don't think it will be an easy or smooth ride there.

Good point, one of the biggest challenges for Bitcoin is massive user adoption.  Without more people coming aboard to use it, it could hamper the potential market cap.

I don’t really think that user adoption is a great challenge for bitcoin, it is going to happen eventually the greatest issue at the moment is how to make the fees cheaper and the confirmation of the transaction faster since without it there is not a way to get too much adoption.

Well yeah you may be right about the concept of the bitcoin but the truth is that being a part of the global society we need to do so. How else could we have to show the strength of the Bitcoin to the world? When it comes to the currency the countries shows its strength but the bitcoin being a decentralized currency will be compared with the companies.
