Mining can be really profitable, you just need to buy a chip rig like R9 290 (pretty affordable) and mine some coin which still has pretty low difficulties, mining bitcoin is only wasting your time if you don't have that good rigs and mining is not that risky, you just gamble to whether earning profit or not in a month, you will not lose your rigs because of mining.
And one thing, business like online shop also have a risk, there's no business in this world which don't have the risk to be honest, all is fair with the earning you can get.

I agree since you it's hard to find some trusted people especially there are a lot of news regarding scams like every now and then, those people who have been taking advantage to other people. Online shop would be nice but since you will launch it as new then you need to allocate some money on advertisement, adjust some fees, think as to where you will get the things that you will sell and etc. I suggest that you should start in some more basic business like establishing a shop that might be food or things in the real life since online is kinda complicated I think.

You are right a lot of competitions with it so it is very difficult to compete with the other now because you are just new though think something a new idea sort of there are only few online shops that accepts bitcoin in paying. Yes both these things are important but the goodness of the BTC is that you can start earning it with no capital amount of money needed such as for faucet and the signature campaign.
