Just because we (and I say we because I'm a US citizen) are the most powerful doesn't mean we are the most dangerous. Think of a rouge state like N Korea, or even some random terrorist with a knife and a car; they are more dangerous than us. Why? Because they want to kill people. Take Syria for example, we killed 6 terrorists in the process of taking out a chemical weapons facility that was being used to poison gas bomb civilians. We were not a danger there, we saved lives and made the world a better place.

While the nuke killed a lot of people; a lot of people (both Americans and Japanese) would have died fighting because the Japanese government decided it would be willing to let most (if not all) it’s citizens die to keep their power. There was no “non-violent” way out there.
