And?
You would start mining and the small bitcoin community of 2009 would notice something very strange and odd with th hashrate. Bitcoin would be redesigned or maybe even shut down.
So this is your plan? :-]

I have some spare Jigga-watts on my Flux Capacitor you can rent for 5000 BTC.

It's a bargain, don't you know!

Did I help you today, or just like my style? Toss a couple coins my direction!

There is the travel in the past idea... traveling to the future could also be a good plan.

Take your small amt of bitcoin way to the future where the value has gone up because of widespread usage => scarcity. Buy some very valuable items, take them back, sell them for more BTC now. Rinse - repeat.

Thought experiments are always fun.

But you're still living in the present. So why not take the opportunities that are available now?

If bitcoin succeeds large scale it won't matter that much if you started back in 2009 or in 2013: It will improve your life.

I am a bit bummed that I did not join the bandwagon when I first heard of BTC 2-3 years ago. I even dl'ed the client and may have a small amount in a lost wallet. I did distributed.net without thinking about getting any return, and I remember thinking that BTC seemed like a cool project, but it just "floated away" from my mind.

Still - It's not to late, it's still in its infancy, and it's kinda fun to do a bit of trading on MtGox, even though I dont have much to trade with. Smiley

BitCoin is NOT a pyramid - it's a pagoda.

I definitely don't want to live in the past when it comes to bitcoin. That's why I built my first bitcoin mining rig almost a month ago today (April Fool's Day to be exact). LOL! I documented the historic life event on my blog: http://www.coinminingrigs.com/my-first-mining-rig/. Thanks to the value increase of bitcoin this year (2013) it is currently profitable to mine bitcoin this way. The future as always is dimly lit, however there will always be other opportunities and I will learn from the opportunities I take advantage of today, applying the knowledge I gain to future decisions. Sorry, that's a bit long winded, but you get the idea. Smiley

Well, in 2009 the difficulty was "1" for quite a long time after the blockchain started - so even with solo CPU mining on some semi-decent CPU you'd make few MHash/s. And with difficulty 1 and 1 MHash/s (which is like single thread on Core2 Duo or similar CPU), you'd end up with about 10 blocks per day, so 500 BTC/day - without raising any suspicion by excessive hashing.

The problem was that not many people have thought bitcoin would have any value at all .... let alone value that high like it was recently (~ $260/BTC), so people looked at it that "if I run my CPU 100% for a day, I'll get something that perhaps is 50 cents worth" and nobody got idea that 500 BTC would have  value about $130 000 dollars in a few years ....

Big brother is not watching you anymore. Big brother is telling you how to live.
