I think it's because Bitcoin users have got a reality check about its use in real life transactions and the practicality of PoW mining.  Cryptocurrency needs a lot of innovation before it can be used in the mainstream to such a ridiculous price, and Bitcoin could only get that far as "digital gold" after a long time unless there's a new mining system which is properly decentralised.  Ethereum and other coins are really not good enough yet either which is why people haven't all migrated down there.

People today are now into making speculation which is close to reality or let's say can really happen.

Back when the price hits around $500, speculations of even $10,000 are being brought up but today, the numbers given are not that much although there are news that some of the big institutions claiming that bitcoin price will even reached to the price we aren't expecting.

Just embrace all the positive speculations we will encountered.

$5000 is 3-4x current price levels. In no other asset class, would such estimates be termed as 'conservative'.
We are still mostly permanent bulls here.

Probably those kids are grown up now or might be busy in altering their profit booking calls or busy in moving out their bitcoins from cold storage.

But when you are finding speculation on $5000 as reasonable then why not speculation on $10k or million will not be reasonable over time. I did see those "kids" were making some sense with their speculations even they were not coming with any backing points for their statements. But when seeing their confidences on bitcoin, I decided to save more in bitcoins.

$5000 is 3-4x current price levels. In no other asset class, would such estimates be termed as 'conservative'.
We are still mostly permanent bulls here.

But $5000 is a long-term estimate for an asset class which is new and has a huge amount of potential.  The amount of actual money that would need to be put into Bitcoin for that price to be reached wouldn't be much at all.

Also, there are huge amounts of bears as well saying that it'll drop all the way to $200.  Don't underestimate them.

After say middle stages of a big run, may be in earlyish stages now, there'll likely be big claims and price predictions, that will probebly overestimate where price will reach in current run, but might get there longterm in another run, or maybe not!

well in the early days price went from $200 to $1200 in about a month that is 500% rise. that is enough profit to drive anybody insane! so people started saying things like $10K on the way (there are still articles of it on coindesk).

but for the past couple of years price has been rising slowly and with more sensible speed that people brought down their %% to a normal level and now call $5000 based on that speed.

What is so wrong about a prediction of 100k? Just a question of the timeframe I would say.
Even big BTC holders believe bitcoin can reach 6 figures after a few more halvings.

In terms of shorter time frames I would agree with you that people tend to be more conservative.Mostly because they've seen the last years that in Bitcoin always somethings gonna happen what can set us back in terms of price.

I personally would not really rely on what people say because the same set of people that are singing the praises of bitcoin today, will come and say they predicted the fall if any challenge should happen any time from now. Its is true that everyone is happy with recent happenings including myself but I won't want to keep my hopes so high rather will take every day as it happens and hopefully everyone will have the last laugh.
