So I built a 6 x GTX 1060 rig with a 990FX motherboard and 8320e (mostly just cause I had the mobo and cpu lying around), it's got a corsair 1200w platinum psu as most people say you need that for a 6 x gpu rig but noticed its only pulling 650w out the wall and corsair link is saying about 50A on the 12v - so a 1kw psu should also cope with this right?

I'm also building another smaller rig with a 990FX again, FX 4300, 1070 and 2 x 1050ti 4GB so an Antec 650w Gold should be ok right?

1060 cards are 90 watts or 100 watts  so six card rig should be under 6 x 100 = 600 + 50 for other parts or 650

650 of 1000 is a safe load.

bigger cards pull more  so all 1070's may need the 1200 .

and all 1080 ti's may not do it on a 1200 watt

your other setup should do under 500 watts

I prefer to use cheapy PSUs w/ HP Server PSUs like this one:
http://www.parallelminer.com/product/hp-1200-watt-power-supply-kit-for-gpu-mining-platinum-94-zec-dash-eth/

For your setup, I'd run the 1060's on this:
http://www.parallelminer.com/product/hp-750-watt-power-supply-kit-for-gpu-mining-platinum-94-zec-dash-eth/
And then just throw in some dinky $20 200w PSU for the mobo/cpu

Read carefully. This isn't an EVGA PSU, the 1000w is not on the 12V rail. The 12V rail is rated specifically at 50A which is 600w which is cutting it close (but is still perfectly fine if you arent planning on adding more)

you are not reading what I read.

he said he is using a 1200 watt plat corsair.  it is pulling 50 amp's it rates 100 amps it is single rail.  he mentions corsair link that is software reading of what the rail is pulling 50 amps.  his psu would allow up to 100 amps.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139205

he could use a 1000 watt psu  all of the below are 83 amp and he pulls 50 amp  this is good.   all of these are 83 amps and would be safe with some overhead.

Just a small question regarding this kind of setup.

When do you power on your card ? Before your Mobo or after ?

Thx

So you mine some low power algo with low powered cards... 1200w psu is need for more demanding algos and cards, example with 6x rx480 on zec you would use 650W too, but with dual-mining eth-pasc you would get like 1000W... So 1200W is safe for 6x amd gpu rig, and that is why they tell that, but you have other card rig..

Well suppose then if I changed a couple cards to 1070s or 1080s I'm covered then as for power requirements anyway  Cheesy

It's quite a difference how much more efficient Nvidia is than AMD cards, specially if running pretty much constantly

Nvidia cards are very efficient energy wise, but they don't offer good hashrate with a wide variety of algorithms like AMD ones, they are usually more expensive too. You should definitely get some 1070 if you can afford them.

I did for my new build, ended up getting 2 x 1070s at £250 and £270

All 1060s on the previous build were £170 so no more than Rx 480s

For the first configuration an 850Watts PS might work. However, you should know how much a the motherboard, disk, memory requires. Some cards can take 50-60Watts, while others can get to about 200W. You can try using this: http://cryptowizzard.com/eth-mining-rig-builder/.

For the second configuration a 650Watts should be enough.

Mining ZEC yea and results were pretty consistent until the prices have been going insane recently, in 22hrs it mined 0.11, but difficulty went up after that and mines like nothing when it does so shut down and will start up when it goes down... Like 2 days ago it mined 0.16 in 20hr

GTX 1070s in particular are good at ZEC, showing higher hashrates than RX 480s at similar efficiency and fairly close on cost/hash - but that's an uncommon case.

On ETH, they are very close on hashrate and efficiency, but the ALMOST DOUBLE up-front cost of a GTX 1070 would make them a bad choice for ETH.

There are other choices where the 1070's higher price is easily justified by it's much higher capability, but those tend to be small-volume coins while the RX series generally does as well to better on most high-volume GPU mineable coins.

NVIDIA does very well on anything related to the Equihash, LIBRY, or Lyra2Rev2 algorithms, so there are several coins that are either very profitable to mine yourself, or that people will pay yout mine for them via NiceHash. AMD has a much longer and better history of mining profitability, but I think with the current algos and technology NVIDIA is looking good as well for the future. We're trying to diversify with about 50% NVIDIA and 50% AMD rigs going forward here.... always good to not have all the digital eggs in one basket. Wink

guys sorry I got another question I run 1050w toughpower with 6 rx500 series . Total Wall load shows 600 (I make undervoltage)

Well the question is PSU got 6 sockets can I connect 7th gpu with the same cable of one GPU ?

I don't think you should, using adapters has been notorious for frying stuff
