Despite some skepticism, it turned out, Elon Musk has decided to build underground tunnels for cars. For this we have created a company called "Boring Company", which recently got a huge drilling rig.
Last week Business Insider reported that Musk in February of this year, began to dig a small tunnel under the SpaceX facility in California to accommodate vehicles, which ultimately will be the basis of an underground transport network. However, on their own land, the founder of Tesla is free to do what you want, but in Los Angeles, where he is going to start digging an underground motorway, he will have to get permission. It is believed that Musk is planning to build under the city the whole underground network, which may include 30 levels of tunnels for cars and Hyperloop.
At the end of last week was released the first promotional video showing how the Tesla Model S's Parking the car on the Elevator platform, descends into the earth and leaves along the rail on the same platform, walking along a predetermined route at a speed of 200 km/h and then rises again to the surface.
The idea of traveling underground with a speed of 200 km/hour attractive as it relieves congestion and reduces travel time. But, say, a large-scale project such infrastructure, requiring huge investments, the government is unlikely to support, as they do not always have the money to repair ordinary roads. https://youtu.be/u5V_VzRrSBI

I think after they have failed in space now is the time to waste more money to dig the ground, well I suppose those billions of dollars should be spent somehow you agree?
Also many countries still haven't yet completely managed to build their metro, but maybe he can enjoy driving in tunnels with 200KM/s.

What kind of failure they lost in space? Recently I heard that they made a good start. They put into orbit a reconnaissance satellite and the main stage of the rocket returned. It seems to me that you have incorrect information.

Space is no joke, a private company is small to take such matters in hand, we have more concerning matters here on earth that needs fixing asap.
IMAO we need to tackle any space related missions united as a whole, all countries and all the scientific and engineering minds should engage with space missions.
For the best and fastest results possible there needs to be at least $10 trillions, a few billion dollars is not enough and just wasting time and money.

Imagine what we have achieved if 200 countries worked together as one body.

High concentration of resources in the single project is very bad idea. Have you ever heard about risk management?

This is a very stupid idea from the part of Elon Musk. He should rather concentrate on space transport. Everyone knows that California is a very seismically active state. If a major earthquake strikes, then these tunnels are going to amplify the casualties.

Well, if there will be an earthquake in California, nothing will be saved, and people who do not use tunnels will not be able to save anything either. Already many times talked about what dangers lie in wait for California and really good is not enough.

Who ever heard of landslides in the Tokyo subway? And the earthquake happens very often there. It all depends on the quality of materials and correct design. Besides, it's a parallel project. It does not negate the work on the construction of space transport.

I don't know if he's trying to troll people now. Boring Company do sound,  um, cool.  Grin (Yes, I know what "boring" meant.)

As many people have pointed out though, the area is geologically active. If just being outside is already unsafe, what about being underground then? I've seen people die when they ran out during a quake, not because of having things fall on them, but by literally being swallowed by the earth.

Unless he have a way of securing the tunnels, I think he should focus his creativity towards other goals.

Yup, very active. San Francisco in particular is the epicenter of homosexual, I mean, seismic activity.

Since it is a seismically active area, most of the buildings are protected against earthquakes, and therefore the damages might be minimal. But it is much more difficult to protect tunnels from these earthquakes.

This kind of technology in transportation sector would be of great help. Just Imagine the speed of the travel which is 200 kilometers per hour, with this speed you can easily reach your destination without any troubles from traffic congestion. But even though this kind of innovation is very helpful the greatest problems that it can encounter is terrorism, earthquake and other natural calamities.

What's in the tunnel will be lit? There is nothing to burn. In the subway people no longer die from the stampede and not because of the fire.

Yup, people would basically roast in there. Thankfully they'll probably pass out first due to suffocation and not feel the pain of being burned. Would have been less problematic if it were trains since the moment the electricity shuts down, the train would just stop.

IMHO our innovators should be focusing on improving public transport. This is why I prefer that people live in cities rather than suburbs. You can go around without having to use your car. In the better designed cities, it's even possible to just ride a bike or walk to work.

Totally agree! American city planning is full shit, suburbs waste a lot of energy and people spend many hours in traffic jams. You must learn from Europe how to build good cities!

Yes. For me, biking is best. You get around quickly and at the same time burn some calories. I'm not sure how it would fare in tropical countries though. I mean, everyone here just want to stay away from the light. Hmm... maybe actually incorporate more green space in to cities? Maybe that could at least cut down on the heat since concrete just tend to absorb and retain it. I believe they call it heat island.

On one side of the tube is the problem, on the other hand, the presence of the tubes talks about the good welfare of the citizens. It means everyone has the money for the purchase and maintenance of vehicles.

I'm sure they'll do massive feasibility research into whether such a system is viable, and if they do find it is a good plan, surely there will be many m/billionaire investors willing to finance the project just like his space project.
