There are more than 20000 nodes as of today (according to http://stats.bitcoin.it/rrd/nodes_total-day.png).
More than 10000 official client downloads daily (according to http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/?group_id=244765&ugn=bitcoin&type=&mode=60day).

Does anyone know where stats.bitcoin.it gets their data? Is there perhaps an API feed somewhere that I can monitor for that same "nodes seen in the last 3 hours" stat?

stats.bitcoin.it shows forbidden for me...whats up with that??

http://stats.bitcoin.it/rrd/nodes_total-year.png and http://stats.bitcoin.it/rrd/nodes_total-day.png are not forbidden. Obviously you don't read previous posts.
