Current bid is priced at nearly 80% of face value...not to mention the numismatic value. Interesting indeed! This is the first time I've seen a Casascius coin on ebay going for less than face. Nuts! If only they accepted bitcoin a few more people on this Forum would be players in this auction.

Its only cause people wait until the last 10 seconds to bid....no way this goes for less than face.

Will be interesting no doubt. Wondering how many people will be in on it since most dont like to cash out into fiat but would rather buy it for btc. Wonder if the seller would do a face to face pickup with btc being used as payment?

Assuming it's not some widow that happened to find it you'd probably have someone very interested in that. It seems odd to me to sell a physical bitcoin for fiat so that's what I'm thinking, someone doesn't know how to use bitcoins so they are asking for fiat. It has to be. Current bid is priced at nearly 80% of face value...not to mention the numismatic value. Interesting indeed! This is the first time I've seen a Casascius coin on ebay going for less than face. Nuts! Auctions are useless until the last like 30 seconds. Check then and you'll see that price spike. I've seen no bids for 7 days then in the last few seconds there are literally hundreds of bids. It depends if everyone thinks they can snipe it.

For an auction like this I would think waiting until the last hour to bid would be accurate since the fiat value of Bitcoin can fluctuate throughout the time of the auction.

Definitely an interesting choice for the seller. Whatever the coin sells for they'll need to pay 10% eBay fees and further fees for using PayPal as the payment method. We'll have to wait and see what the final sale price is but I'm pretty sure it would have fetched a higher premium had it been listed here.

Negative, I've already inquired.. I would think AT101ET is probably right then. If it was a bitcoiner they would know this is a prized piece and will probably get more in btc than fiat after all is said and done....maybe not lets see

Ummm..... Casascius sold and made aluminum rounds to be handed out as promos/gifts. They never came with holograms and were originally sold like the picture shows... in rolls. You can still see them for sale at: https://www.casascius.com/They came in 5 colors and original "silver" color aluminum. Thanks Easy Jones, take it easy. I've never heard of such aluminum rounds, hence my original comment. My astonishment remains that these would be listed on eBay for $3,000. It's weird. By the way, that link shows potentially corrupt for me.

It looks like the cover for the firstbits is actually a piece of paper / sticker on top of the firstbits. I hope it's not a sticker.

Always surprised to see high value coins go up on ebay with the ebay/pp fees. Would think it will sell for more on a forum like here with sales in btc. Worth a watch but im sure everyone else is too.
