there's 256 bit ones? I thought the 256 bit Tahiti based cards were all market as 7870s.

Ya I can't find a 256-bit 7950 for sale anywhere. I don't think they make them.

LTC mining is very RAM intensive. Having a wider memory bus means more bandwidth, which could mean better performance.
