Hi,

Armory gets stuck while syncing and uses the complete 150GB HD. I looked up which folder uses so much space and found .bitcoin/blocks to be 125GB.

Is that to be expected or did something went wrong and i have to resync?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Yes, that is correct. Armory uses Bitcoin Core which must download and store the full blockchain which is currently ~120 GB. Armory requires the full blockchain so Bitcoin Core's pruning feature cannot be used.
