Is 2017 the year of Crypto consolidation? Price growing up at maximum speed, market cap increased a lot in only one month, most altcoins spiking (LTC & ETH above all). What's going on? It's not BTC UP > ALTS DOWN anymore. Is this the beginning of a new era? What's next for Bitcoin and altcoins?

not that many things has changed. it is still the same as before.
bitcoin price does some slip and slide > Altcoin pump season starts > altcoins rise
bitcoin stops slipping sideways and starts rising > altcoins rise some more in USD value since BTC went up.
bitcoin continues rising > altcoins get dumped hard.

as you can see ETH has been getting dumped hard for the past days. (-29% drop)
litecoin is not doing well either, it was in a bubble and dropped (-36% drop)

alt pump season is not over although it is near the end, so you can still expect some rises (specially since there is still some hype about some altcoins, such as LTC SegWit hype)! but the overall movement will be DUMP all over the alt market in the coming months.

- Check again alts are in red now while bitcoin is on bull run.
- Nothing has changed and no we are in same crypto era.  Grin
- This type of swings will continue while bitcoin price will keep on increasing.

Spot on.  Coinmarketcap is showing that all the major alts are finally getting their long-needed dumps and the Bitcoin price is soaring.  They might stabilise for a little while longer but ultimately they've reached their high and will stagnate, slowly dropping back to Bitcoin, until the next altcoin pump.

As I said elsewhere, this is difficult to maintain when smart money enters the scene, because the obvious gains (much higher than on normal financial markets) that would be there to grab are too easy.  There can simply not be an asset of which there is a steady price rise for years at rates that out-paces financial markets and of which this steady rise would be easily predictable.  No financial institution would miss that opportunity.

There is nothing known as crypto currency is fail , most of the investors including me were waiting for the world to realize the importance of bitcoin ans crypto currencies in terms of investment. This year there is also so much of growth because millions of peoplebare finally aware of all these coins and are realizing there is something better than gold and real estates.

What I want to understand is if there's a new money flow towards Bitcoin and alts, or it's just the same people trading for higher prices Huh

it is both.
the same old people have gained a lot of money from previous altcoin pump and dumps. for example those who started participating in the altcoin pump and dump game with 1BTC could have had 10BTC in a short time last year during the same pumping season. so now they are again coming back in with the previous profit + some more money out of their pocket since last time it was successful.

also obviously bitcoin growth and all the adoption and all the media coverage has attracted a lot of new people. many of which are investing only. and when they get familiar with bitcoin they also find out about another market which is rising at the moment they found out about bitcoin. so without knowing they invest in altcoins too. and many end up losing a lot because they don't know what the pump and dump games in altcoins are.

agree with you.. as the price of btc increases the price of alts decreases.. and guess what? its bloody in poloniex.. good to buy? i think so..
this will give us the chance to stock more alts and sell them when it pump after this bullish trend of btc.

Do you think there is some stats website supporting this? Some site showing how much money is flowing into BTC and alts...
