Yep. ISIS surely is brave enough and ignorant enough the capabilities of Russian Military Prowess or are they just doing this in order to have a face that they have the power to go against these huge countries that in fact thry don't even stand a chance. One can argue that the Russians are just taking a page of the American manual on war on terror. In the past these ground operations have not been very successful for them, especially when the US start arming terrorists to fight them like in Afghanistan in the 80s. The Russians probably saw the US are arming the anti Assad opposition which they consider a terrorist group and decided they wanted to avoid a new failure like 30 years ago.

So it turns out he was "one of them". Seems the Russian gov't is not yet confirming that he was an agent, and I don't think they will. RIP. He may no longer be, but his service probably saved some lives.
