Hello,

I need to be able to run miners at a high hash rate but be very quiet, nearly stealthy.  I was looking at the R4, but the low hash rate for the cost is bothersome.  I want a couple of R9s, but I expect they will be as loud and hot as the two R7s I am running.

Is there another brand or Ant model that can be very quiet and have the hashing capacity of the R9s?

Thank you.

Happy hashing to you.  Smiley

R9s?? Do you mean S9s? They are very loud, about the same or more than S7s. The same with T9s. Stealth and BTC mining is non existent

Antminer R4 is a silent miner model.
Other miner models: you need to be able to underclock it to achieve lower noise level.

And yeah, there are no R9's or R7's, you must be talking about Antminer S9 and Antminer S7.

edit: Oh yeah whoops, S7-LN is a silent miner as well, of course.

Yeah...  Alphabet soup.  S9 was intended.  Was too early in the morning.

For home, the S9 will not be a problem.  I was hoping to take one to work.  But as TH levels continue to skyrocket, I am not sure the R4 would even be worth it.

Looks like the S9 is where I am heading.

Thank you all.  Smiley

the R4 is never worth it. I think it's been discontinued because it unreliable

The S7-LN is my favorite for being quiet.
Best lil' miner since the S3.

I wouldn't say 'never' on the R4 but yes it is a real roll of the dice. I have 3 of them. 2 perfect and near silent, the 3rd lost the top board after 24hrs. Gotta send that to Colorado some time now that warmer weather is here...

Ya, the s7-LN especially with sidehack's UV/UC mod are exceptionally quiet. Also only pull around 750-950w depending on how you set them up, db level is commensurate with speed/power.

Only thing is they're quite rare and I've never been able to get my hands on one of those fabled devices. Hopefully Bitmain releases another S7-LN style miner so we can possibly get Sidehack to mod it down Smiley

That won't really be necessary with the new blades he's supposedly designing, though. Wonder how it'll be in terms of noise in an S3 chassis.

I got u,But yes more risky. And with Bitmain you have to buy their most reliable products. The newer versions S9s and from second batch T9s is very reliable in my opinion

If by "good" you mean "profitable with regard to cryptocurrency", no.

I want to use my new 1070 Nvidia to calculate sha256 hash. This is good idea?? Thanks

No, it's a waste of time and money. To mine SHA256 (also X11 and others) you need ASIC, significant better hashrate/consumption rate
