News
It has been an exciting but tiring weekend with the launch of Feathercoin on the Cryptonit exchange. Feathercoin is no longer just in the miners domain, now that it is on an exchange we can start working to get more services and merchants to accept it.

There is news of other exchanges supporting Feathercoin. Most interesting of all is a new exchange that is being created by Vircurex to support trading of younger crypto currencies. This new exchange will be called Virexa.com. This is really good news for the alternative crypto currency community and I would like to thank Vircurex for creating this for all of us.

Currency Code
After a lot of feedback from people about the currency code for Feathercoin, it has now become FTC. This is already a popular reference and is more inline with international standards like ISO 4217, though the standard does say the first two letters should be the country code. Perhaps one day the ISO will release a standard for crypto currencies. You can download the updated clients from the page here.

Website
I have been working on the official website with altmine2. You will know this chap from the popular Feathercoin mining calculator and network stats tools created out of the bounties. It seemed sensible to get altmine2 to work on the official site to bring everything together. Please check out the website from the link below, personally I think he has done some excellent work. If you need any professional website work done then altmine2 is your man.

Submitting Errors
If you spot any problems with any of the clients, downloads, source code or anything else please send me a PM.

And just after I changed all my code to be FC, it goes back to FTC. Smiley

Glad you stay active here.

Will update all sites to conform to the standard here in a bit.

Great work! I am happy to have traded many of my Litecoins for Feathercoins.

Anyways, I think FTC is becoming popular enough that Vircurex should consider trading it on their main exchange.

I like what Ben has done. But the Stats page often does not work:
"Warning! The FeatherCoin Block Explorer is down, so we were unable to retrieve the current difficulty. This calculator should still work normally though."

Why do you make yourself dependent on a third party site (this Block Explorer)? I mean you could easily get/calculate this information from a locally running feathercoind, no?

It can be done, yes. But actually getting around to coding it is another thing entirely. It is a matter of time before someone comes out with another blockexplorer for feathercoin, but for now, I am glad to see other innovations come about.

The link has moved to the following address. Please let me know if that old address is on a live link.

That error message is erroneous, it is now a remote daemon Smiley

The hosting would not let us run a daemon locally. I will move the stats page to a server with a daemon as it needs to be reliable. altmine2 is going to shoot me after all the trouble we had getting this to talk to the remote daemon.

It would be nice to have a FTC ticker somewhere, preferably obtainable via an API call.  Does cryptonit have this?

Some imagination, some observation, some speculation.

- feathercoin, it's name, appeals to girls. And that's good, girls have jobs, girls make money, girls buy stuff, men come out of girls to start their lives ... yeah?

- FC-FTC branding issues are coming along well, people in the trollbox and elsewhere gradually learning the exhchanges are listing feathercoin as FTC, FeatHerCoin.

- logo looks sharp, ico works pretty good, better than before for sure.

- Cryptonit, http://cryptonit.net/exchange/ltc/ftc, has added FTC, as has https://bter.com/trade/ftc_btc

- private brokering of FTC seems to be going well, as always, exercise extreme caution and trade only with trusted parties.

- FTC price discovery a long way off, but has some leverage over LTC as early adopters seem willing to pay a premium.

- Testing of feathercoin mining pools with Tacotime GUIMiner versions, 2.0 and 3.0 and awaiting version 4.0 to be released in days from now. Testing Reaper, and CGminer as well where allowed.

- Results of tests of pools show the pooling, which of course has just really been brought up, has a ways to go, shop around, due diligence suggested when selecting a pool
