I would like to add a permanent public bitcoin address to my keybase.io profile. I have seen a few well-know and trusted people doing this in the Bitcoin and FOSS community. Here's the profile of Andreas M. Antonopoulos:

https://keybase.io/aantonop

This one has even been customized with his name in the Bitcoin address. Anyway, I asked a few people and they told to just take a random receiving address from a Electrum wallet and use it as a permanent public one. They also told that it was not necessary a good idea privacy wise and even if it is possible, it should not considered standard practice. To be honest, I'm kind of confused about this. On one hand, the most well-know Bitcoin spokesman is doing this and on the other hand, it should not be recommended..?

So I hoping to get a few advanced opinions on this from some experienced Bitcoin users and guru on the forum. So what is your thoughts on this and what will be the best possible way to do this? Thanks

It is not recommended for you to solely use that one address for receiving all of your payments. The recommended practice is that you should use a new address for every new payment that you receive, but sometimes that is not possible. However you should post your address for a couple of reasons. First it acts as a proof of your identity; if you can sign a message with that address, you can prove that you are yourself as you hold the private key to that address. Secondly, if you accept donations or tips, having a posted public address is useful as people can just send you money without you giving them an address.

For all payments other than unsolicited donations (i.e. payments where you are in contact with the person paying you), you should use a new address for each payment as that is better for security and privacy.

Correct.

The fact that someone is well-known and/or popular is not an indicator that they engage in best practices or that they are skilled or knowledgeable.

Celebrities rarely make good role-models.
