I rebooted my old litecoin qt and it has moved them into the unconfirmed balance? They were all confirmed and in my available balance prior to updating to core?

if you have the privat key you have the coins. ever tried to use the key in an other wallet?
or start from scratch and use your key.
the coins won't get lost if you have the key.

No I haven't tried that. I was hoping to be able to keep them in my offline wallet. I'll look into this, any recommendations for a good wallet to try this on?

i would try https://electrum-ltc.org. it is a HD wallet. so you don't have to download the hole blockchain.

Use instantly: Electrum doesn't download the blockchain or require your computer to sync with the network. Instead, it is maintained on a tamper-proof, remote server.

What should I do with my old Litecoin addresses and wallet when switching to Electrum-LTC?
The best way to switch to Electrum is to send all the litecoins you have on your old wallet to one of the addresses on your Electrum wallet. This way you'll have all your litecoins secured with your seed. You could import the private keys from your old client, but in that case you would have to backup those keys separately, as they won't become part of your Electrum seed.
