my account is locked because i havent logged in for 6 months or so? and now btc-e is asking for my passport id... i have access to all aspects of my account including phone verified gmail,skype,etc... just not the wallet i used for deposit because i used 1 wallet per transfer...
i have every information about my account and access to my gmail since 2015, all passwords, skype, phone numbers, everything and they are asking for my passport? i never used any bank transfer or name when registering so i dont know how that qualifies as validating my account since there are no indication of names or bank transactions.... but whatever. they are helding exactly 10.34btc from my account....

Should you post any proof about? You have provided your passportt ID in past? If yes, you will not have problem to send it again. If not, send it and see what happen!

That is an awful lot of money for them to be holding from you. If you never registered with your real identity, I don't see how providing it will prove ownership of your account either I would go ahead and provide it considering how much money this is. Further, if you have access to the wallet you used to send those funds to BTC-e, I would sign a message/s from that/those address/es used to fund your account, as this proves that you made those transfers. I hate to even say this as I don't mean to make you feel worse than you currently do, but why you allowed an exchange to hold your coins long term is beyond me. If you need to use an exchange, send coins -> do whatever trade is needed -> withdraw funds. Time and time again we hear of cases like this, which could have been avoided had you kept control of your money. I hope you get your BTC back. I really wish people would start realising that letting exchanges hold your coins for any meaningful amount of time is a terrible idea. Good luck with everything OP.

Just scan your passport and send it to them, what is the problem?
They do this to see if the account is hacked or not when it was inactive probably. Still, asking for a passport scan is stupid if you haven't sent them one before. Keep us updated till its solved please.

most exchanges would require for verification. make sure that the email address is truly from btc e holding, always confirm that you getting the message from the original source. if you are then there is nothing to worry about, but if not then don't send it as it may be a scammer. however the decision is yours to make.

Just scan your passport and send it to them, what is the problem?
Why should he ? What is the guarantee they won't misuse his password details ? They didn't ask him for verification before signing up or depositing his coins ? That's the problem. They do this to see if the account is hacked or not when it was inactive probably. Still, asking for a passport scan is stupid if you haven't sent them one before. Keep us updated till its solved please.
There are other ways to check if an account has been hacked, like Zepher said, signing a message from a deposit address. most exchanges would require for verification. make sure that the email address is truly from btc e holding, always confirm that you getting the message from the original source. if you are then there is nothing to worry about, but if not then don't send it as it may be a scammer. however the decision is yours to make.

To all the people who are suggesting, "just submit your passport, what's the issue?", wow.
This goes against everything Bitcoin stands for. They are holding his money hostage until he provides his ID. They could potentially be committing identity theft here. A passport is not some college ID, you don't just give it to anybody. There needs to be trust established first. BTC-E has failed to establish such a trust.

Why help on Skype? Why not help here on this forum where everything is transparent and open? Oh I know.. because on Skype you can privately rape someone financially, right? Manipulate the conversation to tempt or lure some desperate someone out there to pay you a service fee for "help" in unlocking their BTC-E funds. Righto. Got it. PS.. someone on weed will say anything, promise anything even, do anything... all for that next high.

I don't think they will hold anyone's bitcoins without a valid reason. I had 0.9 bitcoins in my account from 2016 and I withdrew that bitcoin recently without any problem and that's almost 1.5 year without login.
