Hello,

I think there would be no better place to put this question.
I do not know if it is allowed, but it's just a curiosity.

Is it possible to shut down the facebook? For a day or two?

What knowledge would it take to achieve such a feat?

Thank you.
Greetings.

Shutdown like on cyber attack ? Or entire facebook collapsing ?

If its collapsing, i guess its impossible.
Facebook is essential for many people, or even internet itself, and facebook is quite aggresive on expanding its business.

But when we talk about cyber attack, why not ?
Wikileaks says that some elite hacker can backtracing something to somewhere on facebook server as a threat.

As far as I know much of their data is on one central server cluster, so who knows. Maybe a physical attack  Cheesy There are better places to ask for something like that though. Deepweb forums are one example.

Why would you do that? Are you an agent of the dictatorial regime? Then you need to wonder about it in North Korea and Turkey. They have the experience of dealing with Facebook. They say that this year can try to ban Facebook in Russia, but I think before that it will not come.

Facebook will have possible to shutdown because we are online world . They have many hackers are there and they want to hack your account and website. I think many hackers want to hack facebook but no one can their hack facebook because facebook have strong security they have many programmers work for facebook for its security for sure mark zuckerberg is a one of the programmer and they have ability to secure facebook because he create facebook.

Shut down as in deactivating your account? If so then yes, that is possible.

YES! why not? nowadays impossible is just an illusion, there are so many great hackers hiding in front of their screen, if government hire all of them to shutdown facebook then they can easily shut it down in a matter of time!

What for? Facebook today is not just sharing for a moment, but it has become a need to grow the business and promote the product. I enjoy it

Come on be reasonable guys. Even if Facebook gets temporarily shut down and it's servers formatted, everything is probably double, triple or even more times backed up somewhere. Don't you think Zuckerberg would have thought of that already?

Even if FB falls down it will be back up and running in a matter of minutes or hours at the most. I'm pretty sure they've trained and prepared for such scenarios.

Most likely this is an agent Grin that does intelligence and collects advice on closing. In Ukraine, Russian social workers were banned. Networks, now they want to get to Facebook.

Thank you all for your answers. I'm not an agent, neither an hacker. I'm just in curiosity. I know facebook is an unicorn and at this moment it is a marketing powerful tool in business management. But i think he has some causalities in poorless countrys. He can hurts people's mind. Already hurt me, so i know what i'm talking about. I don't blame the team of facebook. Probably is my misuse of the network. But if facebook had an attack, i think that it would go discredit the social network a little bit. And damage the confidence of the people in facebook. But i understand, maybe they can fix the problem just doing a manual of good use in all languages.

Do you mean to attack their servers? Of course it is possible, but it is not easy at all, because they have strict security measures. But I think, like any centralized stuff, it can be attacked and shut down.
