The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Once ASICs start coming out, I think it will feel like a big waste of money Why do you need to take your mining rig with you? As long as you have a closet somewhere, just park it and let it do it's thing. They usually don't require constant monitoring...

Dedicated GPU in a desktop mining makes sense.
Mining on a laptop to earn $10 at the expense of a $500-$2k laptop does not.

It does in my case... Not buying it just for mining. Mining is just a hobby.

GTX680 110.00 1110 1536 RPCMiner with OpenCL or others. Might crash once mining stops. No Flags and Stock Settings (GPU Boost @ 1110mhz Core) with EVGA GTX 680, latest version of GUIMiner (2012-2-19) and Windows 7 x64.
That computer has two of those with how I read it so thats like 3000.... not bad for being plugged into a airport.

Yes, but I don't think anyone would recommend mining on laptop graphics chips. Your laptop will run hot and I think you risk burning out your chips.

Since you seem to be a fan of using Ebay, I'll add another link that way. I'd recommend an AMD processor based Laptop (A8). They undervolt and/or overclock well, as I have 2 of the same series. This allows you to have the power when you need it, but when you don't, allows for a very comfortable low temp for long term use. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-HP-ENVY-dv6z-Laptop-AMD-Quad-Core-A8-4500M-1-9GHz-/111036773475?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item19da4eb463They can run very cool, they undervolting/overclocking tools are very easy to use (k10stat). Also you can mine on them and if you just want to do them as a hobby that is no problem, it handles it fine, without over heating. I'm not suggesting it can mine very well, but if you want to do that, like others have suggested you'd want to go with something more designed for it.

I agree, but if you planning to use a laptop on the move, you do need something which can reasonably last more than 1 hour at full power without the power cord connected. An APU (A8 based laptop), can last many hours, even running at full power. Most power hungry laptops, with discrete cards, are not capable on lasting that long on just battery if you using them to their full.

Nice try troll, no one is that stupid.
$1,749.00 for a notebook that will net about 200MH/s (7970M is an underclocked 7870), you'd be better off not mining on it even if you already had one in hand (notebooks are not designed for this sort of thing).
