well, they do have the bad service but the volume is still very high. I think that all those volumes are fake and it can not prove anything. Poloniex is following mt.gox path. Save your money while you still can
Is there any way we as users can verify the volume the coins have? I know that they have cold storages of ~100 million, but that's it?

So, poloniex is down? Or they are going to be scam?
Its up right now. Maybe it just went down for few minutes while you were checking, you should wait for some time before accusing them of scam.
are you serious? They are going down continuously everyday... check there: http://poloniex.com/trollbox ; People are leaving polo...

this.
i'm considering switching to bittrex or kraken, does anyone know if the issues polo has faced in the past 1-2 weeks are also being experienced by these two exchanges?

Bittrex is quite stable, but their market volume compared to poloniex is nothing, however they do have a lot more coins listed.

If bittrex had as many users as poloniex, it would probably also lagg out like crazy.

What do you think about hitbtc? I am planning to shift there. Without the volume, it's better than poloniex. Trading is very smooth there.

They are not going to be scam because they are just experiencing a lot of ddos and also a lot of additional volume of users to their site and its making their site lag because of the huge demand and website user from the different parts of the world.

Poloniex works but they are cheap as Fu on the servers which causes significant lag time on peak load.
It also really burns a position whenever the servers crash and the price dumps or rises and people get margin burned or position locked ...

They're not.

Bittrex is a much better exchange than Poloniex - decent trading volume, running for longer, more coins, etc.

Poloniex's activity is extremely suspicious - slow withdrawals; downtime only when a coin pumps; "DDoS attacks" which don't let us trade but do make the coin get dumped in the middle of it, and more.

I don't know what's really happening to them right now. What we know for sure is that there are so many people who are angry at them right now because of the shitty service that they're providing right now. Many traders lost their money because they couldn't trade in crucial moment especially when a coin is being dumped heavily. They're raking a lot of money from the fees that they're charging us but they couldn't afford to buy hi-end servers.

Yes same here, I've had nothing returned for 19hrs to-date, but I'm not sweating about it at the moment.
However, I've raised a support ticket & will update when I get any response.

Poloniex: they Can’t Support Bitcoin Gold for Now According to Poloniex, the reason for the uncertainty is due to the security and stability of the software remaining unknown as of now. Additionally, it was unable to determine network conditions before BTG launched this week. https://www.bitsonline.com/poloniex-bitcoin-gold-notice/
