Bitcoin price seems to be surging , investors seem to think that the price will surge to $4000 , In the US there seems to be negativity towards bitcoin on the securities and Exchange commission , what would create this surge ?

I dont want to make any prediction right now because many people are disappointed in Bitcoin and the confirmation times. It can reach $4000 but It can drop back to $1000. Who now |

it's unfortunate that we have to go through BTC when trading on exchanges. It's the only thing really keeping it king of the throne at this point. Personally I'd rather use XEM as my base holding and trade all alts through that, because whether people realize it or not it is the future and is going to go head to head with Ethereum within a year. Can't even do ETH pairing for a lot of the alts so XEM won't be done, and I don't want to use Tether or Monero.

Not this year, but it will within the next 24 month.
Bitcoin is the gold of the crypto system.
No matter about the confirmation times.
Because:
For transactions and business in the near future we will use other coins like ETH and XRP. And some additional coins for other concerns. Which coins will that be? I don't know. We'll see, after the crypto market bubble will have popped - in about 24 to 36 month. I think, up to ten coins will survive that. And these will be the first great players for our future build on blockchains.
But for an almost save storage, we will use BTC.
For at least the next ten years.

This has been my position and one of the main reason why BTC will be king and anyone predicting any alt taking over from bitcoin will just be wasting his effort in that because as far as we have it till today that crypto currency is yet to be accepted as a means of exchange, the only generally accepted to be converted to Fiat is btc and the value of the others are determined in relation to the price of btc. Whether btc will reach $4000 or even $5000, so many factors will have to work for it's favor and not by mere wishful thinking. |

If bitoin will speed up and in bubble with have exponential grow then it is possible 10 000$.
But to have 10 000 we need good catalizator like ETF or Segwit activated.

It is really impossible to predict the value of bitcoin at a certain time and i never expected the price to cross $1500 this month but it has broken the records and exceeded expectations and it is possible to reach the price over $4000 with more countries legalizing bitcoin this year ,it is a real possibility.

Firstly, this topic should be moved to speculations board.
Now about your question. I only can answer: maybe yes, maybe no. It's really hard to predict future price of bitcoin, there are so many factors which may affect bitcoin price. Even such things like recent cyber attacks where hackers demand to pay bitcoins to get access of files may have impact to bitcoin price

It is very hard to predict it will,this is the year bitcoin faces a lot of issues and competition but still expert are positive Bitcoin price will surge I don't know what will comes along but the core developer should add additional feature to make the transactions faster and I thought BTU was the answer ..

It's not possible to reach that price if we take a look the price for the past weeks very stable with $1700-$1800. So start to collect bitcoin now very small chance to dump

There are always possibility. We are in the mid of the year and it is almost $2000 dollar already. With the another half of 2017,we can touch more than $2,000 dollar and up and there is a big chance that reaching between $3,000 to $4,000 is very attainable in my opinion. |

Could reach $ 4000 if indeed many countries are using BTC as a means of payment. Just now some countries are using BTC as a service tool and btc position is now higher than 3 years ago. So it's very possible, we wait when can reach that target. This year or next year.

Not this year and probably wont see it reaching 4k$ because by then i think there other currencies and other crypto tactics and each country will have there own crypto currency. More and more country would adapt coin and then each of them will have their own bank designated for only cryptocurrencies. Besides If it would reach that price i doubt if people would even want to work in any other infrastructures to furture nurture there nation. |

why is it that people always want extreme prices out of bitcoin?
i mean when price is rising from $1300 everyone is wishing for a $5000-50K,... prices (this topic asking for $4000). and the same goes for when it is dropping. for example it is dropping from $1800 (obviously a overdue correction) and there are chatter about extreme prices again, prices such as $800, $600, ...
i personally blame altcoins for this. people see their 1000% rises and forget that they are 99.999% manipulation altcoins that go that high and fall -90% afterwards. things are nothing like that in bitcoin.

I don't think bitcoin will reach any close to $4000 this year. $3000 is still attainable. Many countries after Japan are coming forward like Australia and Philippines for adopting bitcoin as a legal currency. This will give a boost but not till $4000.

Currently, we really don't know if what price bitcoin can peak. Every speculation from $1000-$1800 has been touch already. All I can say is that bitcoin has shown resiliency, so whatever price you predict will be reached its just a matter of time of when, could be this year or the next coming year. I would just advise not to get excited for every new ATH or if the price goes down. If you are in for the longer term, you wouldn't worry much. You just have to guard your profit or your lost.

i think bitcoin can reach at $4000 this year if there many possible investor or people is joining into bitcoin world and we can see that in few days ago, bitcoin price is suddenly increase from $16xx into $17xx and even now its reach at $18xx. if this conditions still continue, we can see the higher bitcoin price before the price will be increase more in futures.
