Hi all,

Another noob just doing some research into mining. Wanted to quickly ask:

Does the difficulty increase / decrease of particular coins (such as litecoin) impact the difficulty of other coins using scrypt?

Or is the coin difficulty completely independent of each other?

For example will Litecoin's difficulty increase / decrease affect the difficulty of Gamecoin?

Thanks in advance, greatly appreciated.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

The difficulty increase/ decrease of one coin does not directly impact the difficulty of other coins.
The difficulty of each coin is completely independent of each other.

However the difficulty increase/decrease of a coin can indirectly can impact the difficulty of other coins.

Say Litecoin difficulty increases. some miners may switch to a different coin to mine and thereby increasing the difficulty of the other coin.

Mining LTC and other alts since 2014 when I thought I missed the BTC train.
