Other than mining?
Aside from pure effortless donations you gotta offer some sort of service I guess...

Hmm. We could exchange some goods and services. We could invite some bitcoiners to meet us in a dark ally and then whack them on the head til they give us their passwords. We could form a gang, become the coolest people around and then start charging others to hang out with us. We could become bitcoin experts, start an exchange and charge .7% fees on all trades. We could lobby our respective states or countries to start issuing bottle and can recycling refunds in bitcoin. We could all take sexy pictures and demand bitcoin from those who want to see more sexy pictures. We could set up mining operations in secret underground caverns tapped illegally into our respective cities power grids. We could borrow money to buy some bitcoin and then gamble at Bitzino to increase our holdings before paying back the original loan. We could find valuable discarded items and sell them on Bitmit.

best way is to take some new alt coin giveaway, if it will become popular, after few months you can trade it for some BTC. Seems most profitable giveaway was ripple giveaway. you could get 50k XRP and sell them at 10k XRP per 1BTC few months later. I have not participated it that giveaway, because i had no bitcointalk account at the time, but friend gave me some of his 50k XRP, and I traded them for 0.5BTC. So now I registered on this forum, to wait for next opportunity.

I offer up vanity address building. Whatever method you like:
* Full private key generation by me * Mixed generation to have the real private key hidden from me * Up to 6 characters (excluding the '1') (ex: 1FunMan) * Case insensitive if you want - makes it cheaper
Ex: 6 char vanity key = 0.002 BTC (roughly $0.25 now) 5 char = 0.001 BTC 4 char = 0.0002 3 char = 0.0001 2 char = 0.00001 (prefer bulk so you don't waste your money on trans fee)
case insensitive = half cost
Bulk discount == for every additional one, add half cost of the new one.. sorting most expensive first costwise
Simple service at cheaper than pool (IIRR) though not quite as super-big lengths. Any takers? Anybody want to take a share of this, ex: we get 4 orders in, we split even 2 / 2.

Why not incorporate Bitcoin or maybe Litecoin into games like Minecraft. There's already a plugin or two that would let you be able to sell items on a server for mall amounts of coin. I'd pay a bit for diamonds.

You look at ads, and they send you trivial amounts.

Also there is BitVegas. It's a full bitcoin casino inside Minecraft. I don't recommend using it, however. You will lose money. I just thought it was relevant.

A reply I made in another thread about the complaint that free bitcoin sites, like the ones listed here, are not worth it... what good are they if one only gets very very small amounts that is not worth the time... etc. --- Well no one, I hope, is suggesting that this is a viable source of income which will allow one to give up their regular job. ( then again, who knows what 0.0053 BTC [the amount complained about] might be worth several years from now. ) When I first found out about Bitcoin I wanted to try it out as soon as possible; I am sure many other newbies are the same. Signing up to some exchange or using some of the other methods for buying bitcoins can be a hassle, and can have fees higher than someone just wanting to try things out would like. So using these few free bitcoins sites can be a good way of trying things out... it is exciting to get that first payment to ones wallet... and if other newbies are like me they will be just as excited to gather enough together to send them off to a friend or a worthy charity or the like, in order to try sending as well as receiving. And getting new users excited about Bitcoin and getting them using it right away can only be good for Bitcoin as a whole. Also see this recent post: Thank you very much for this, you have getting me started on BTC and today I will buy some myself There are lots of quotes like that. It may not be worth it to you but many others find it worthwhile for their own reasons. No Free Lunch https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90718.msg1046513#msg1046513
