A reply I made in another thread about the complaint that free bitcoin sites, like the ones listed here, are not worth it... what good are they if one only gets very very small amounts that is not worth the time... etc.

---

Well no one, I hope, is suggesting that this is a viable source of income which
will allow one to give up their regular job.    Cheesy
( then again, who knows what 0.0053 BTC [the amount complained about] might be worth several years from now. )

When I first found out about Bitcoin I wanted to try it out as soon as possible; I am sure many other newbies are the same.

Signing up to some exchange or using some of the other methods for buying bitcoins can be a hassle, and can have fees higher
than someone just wanting to try things out would like.

So using these few free bitcoins sites can be a good way of trying things out... it is exciting to get that first payment to ones
wallet... and if other newbies are like me they will be just as excited to gather enough together to send them off to a friend
or a worthy charity or the like, in order to try sending as well as receiving.

And getting new users excited about Bitcoin and getting them using it right away can only be good for Bitcoin as a whole.

Also see this recent post:
Thank you very much for this, you have getting me started on BTC and today I will buy some myself Cheesy

There are lots of quotes like that.

It may not be worth it to you but many others find it worthwhile for their own reasons.   Wink

That's why it is a good thing to use the thread here,

Free Bitcon Sites ( newbie version, including newbie lotto )
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90718

which is checked everyday by hundreds of members who follow the thread, to make sure the sites are legit and to remove any that are not.

If you find any in this list that are a scam then please let us know.

There are sites that do give away free bitcoin.  If you have internet on a computer and your computer won't mine, and you have no life, then you can get a small amount of bitcoins, but not enough to do anything.

They are all scams and ponzies.. Because cryptos are still new and growing rapidly and few restrictions if any at all, people opening websites for these games are always trying to take what they can from you

"Steal your money"  ...  "ponzies" ...  OMG! OMG!    Shocked

How many of you making these claims have actually checked them out...  they may waste your precious time but they give 'you' BTC not the other way around.

Thanks for the warning though I didn't use any of the mentioned.

If I had a big 'ol stash of BTC from the gold-rush-early-miners-kind-of-stuff I would try Satoshi's Dice.

Satoshi's Dice isn't too bad, at least if you have a high percentage.

Far as I can tell, there are actually some really legit ones. They don't make you rich, but at least it's something
