Hey guys I got a pair of private and public key. Is there a way I sign a transaction offline on my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 on Android ginger bread (2.3).
Is there an app that lets you sign a transaction offline. I have tried Bither and am unable to install it - Error parsing file.

Any ideas please? I am a bit paranoid about theft and won't take my wallet on grid. I'll be pushing the apk via Bluetooth.

You need a newer phone Android 4 and up. With that you can install Mycelium wallet and use a Trezor or Nano S to sign transactions offline. Anything less is asking for trouble.

Why not just get a keepkey or trezor and use that instead?

Gingerbread 2.3?  Shocked Yikes... that is OLD...

You'll be lucky to find any Bitcoin software that works on an OS that old... most of the Android software is only going to run on like KitKat/Lollipop or higher...

This post on stackexchange goes through a step by step process of creating and signing a raw transaction... and has a worked python example.  From memory there was an old version of "Python for Android" that I think may have worked on GB... (maybe this? https://github.com/kuri65536/python-for-android) no guarantees... I certainly haven't tested or tried it.

As an alternative strategy... have you considered setting up a Virtual Machine (using Virtual Box etc) in an encrypted container (like veracrypt), with a clean OS (preferably a linux distro) installing something like Electrum or Armory on it and then removing the network adapter from the VM setup so it is no longer online... Then use can just use the software inside the "offline" VM to sign transactions?

Best of luck...

Oh yes I have seen many apps that work on newer versions of android and I understand I won't be in trouble if the device stays offline.
Thanks for suggesting though Smiley

I am aware of these hardware wallets. However, it would have been cool if I could make use of this device I am about to recycle.

P.S. :
