How long do you think it will be before Oprah interviews a Bitcoin miner and brings Bitcoin into the mainstream? What effect will it have on the price if she starts talking about it? Has anyone tried to contact her people to get her to research it?

Currencies and economics are not her forte. Perhaps if Bitcoin can involve something emotional that housewives can easily connect to, then it might get a mention on her show.

Definitely phrase it that way.  It'd be funny because I could also imagine those annoying types ads that say things like that too.  That'd bring a ton of hilarious buzz.

So you are saying we should give her some bitcoins to play with?

She'll only ever mention it in her discussion of "Chic Coin". Not to be confused with "Sikh Coin" btw.

After some more considerations I think that there are chances that it'll happen - when she finds a housewife that lost her house speculating on MtGox.

She'll talk about it when they become accessible, liquid and easily kept safe. The Bitcoin community has failed to achieve any of these goals in significant measure, because there is money to be made by exploiting these weaknesses.

Didn't Oprah leave whatever show she was on and move to a still-obscure channel she created for herself?

Can you please add an option for "OprahCoin?"

I think she'll try to dominate the digital coin space with OprahCoin.

"Tricky IPO for GeoCities
Craig Bicknell  Email 08.06.98

Boost From Oprah

...GeoCities was born in late 1994 when founder David Bohnett, a former marketing executive at software company Legent, started looking to cash in on Internet fever. He built a Web site with links to other Web sites grouped by topical interest -- sport, hobbies, finance -- and called them neighborhoods.
In January 1995, Bohnett posted live camera shots of a bus stop in Beverly Hills. Oprah Winfrey got wind of it and interviewed him for a show about online snooping. A gush of traffic followed, and GeoCities was off..."

By the time Oprah puts Bitcoin on her show, it will be so commonplace and such a hot topic that her exposure of it will have little effect.

Only when Bitcoin is accepted by the lowest common denominator will it be featured on a show like Oprah's.
