I have a strong feeling particularly living here in the U.S. that once BTC becomes "popular" and more viable as a currency for use in our society we will see U.S. Government & major banks intervention.  I dont know how, I dont know when but I'm pretty sure once the U.S. & E.U. Governments get involved along with the major banks we will see SOMETHING get screwed up with the BTC economy & ecosystem. Maybe it's somehow major taxing, manipulation, banning use, Access to your accounts, etc. etc.  But you can bet that when those big players get involved BTC will change.  What are your thoughts on this for the long term?  My apologies if this has been discussed before please point me to that thread.      Smiley

They already screwed up, by not killing bitcoin while it was still just a seed. They are doomed to watch as bitcoin steals their monetary power and gives it to their greatest enemy, the people.  Grin

Israel has already claimed that BTC is the currency of terrorists, some governments have already started their propaganda early on. In half a decade people that use BTC will be portrayed as criminals and the enemy of the public.

Absolutely.
The last thing they want is a de-centralised currency which they can not controll.
No taxes to apply, no fees... No income for them. Nothing.

They will try to kill it "with fire".

And the easiest way for them to kill it?
Release their supercomputers for a "bit of hashing"

Given bitcoins potential to reduce costs and who knows what other benefits, govt should be looking closely at adopting it into their 'business' model. Rather than try to stamp it out (resistance is futile), they will look at how to benefit from it.

Bitcoin is politically neutral, in this case the Palestine government will support it  Wink

Governments did not invite the central banks either. They just took power. If governments come after Bitcoin it will be at the request of the banks. There is nothing stopping governments from issuing monies backed by Bitcoin instead of the banks.

Any significantly advanced cryptocurrency is indistinguishable from Ponzi Tulips.
