I believe you can find all the TREZOR stuff on github here: https://github.com/trezor

It seems to have all the APIs and Libraries for implementing TREZOR support into your applications, as well as the sources for firmware and even schematics for the hardware.

Question for both trezor and nano-s owners: which one is the best and why?

They are equal. It comes down to which interface you like better and which altcoins are supported. Also, Nano S is a little less expensive than Trezor and has a two year warranty instead of the one year Trezor offers.

And both are almost impossible to buy immediately Tongue

Although, looking at the shop on Trezor.io today... the shipping date is supposedly August 1st (and the finally have the black one listed! gah!)... compared with Ledger currently being early Sept:
I understand that due to a very high level of demand, my order will not be shipped before: September 4, 2017

At the end of the day, I went with the Ledger... because Trezor didn't have the black available for purchase at the time only white and grey Undecided (and the Amazon resellers with black were asking for 2-3x the price!!?! Shocked)... and, more importantly, the price... I could get the Ledger (including shipping) for less than the cost of just the Trezor (not including shipping) Roll Eyes

The trade-off being that I will need to wait a month longer to actually get it Tongue

I also checked out the digital bitbox, but it seems to lack integration with the wallet(s) I use... as for the KeepKey... well, after the total mess that MultiBit HD has become since they took over, I'd never give them $$$ or trust my coins to anything they touch.

I was almost tempted to buy a "BWallet" (a chinese Trezor Clone) just to have a fool around with the hardware...

I think it takes time before you can receive the wallet if you order even in amazon but the price is different compare to amazon price and official page.
I think those who are selling like in amazon just a reseller and they are gaining more than the developer of the hardware wallet.. Trezo wallet same as ledger nano s more price in other market place but if you buy in official you can get it for fair price..
For me paper wallet is enough until the segwit is almost activated..

I love the trezor .  I have 1 black one.

I ordered the 3 pack  black grey white.

Since I have a black one  and want a white one.

I will have a gray and a black spare extra.

I sold the black to someone.

I will have an extra gray one sealed and list it in the market place once I get it.

To me the Trezor seem to be worth buying.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Trezor.  I've been using mine a couple of months now and I'm really thrilled with it.  The one piece of advice I would give is to use a new incognito window in your browser each time you connect to your wallet, otherwise you can be seeing ghosts in your browser cache instead of your true balance.  That's the only problem I've had though and if you have the funds, I'd say go for it!

Always good to incognito your browser regardless, big brother Google know you better than you. Wink

Having a hardware wallet is a must for anyone who is dealing with cryptocurrency. Trezor is one of the well-known hardware wallet that has many userbase in its repertoire. The only problem that I'm seeing right now is its availability. I've been reading some posts saying that they are having difficulties in acquiring Trezor wallet as it became very famous in the past months alongside Bitcoin. You'll never go wrong if you're going to buy a Trezor wallet.

The Digital Bitbox is cool, I bought one to check it out. It does not support Bitcoin Cash on the desktop app but the site did provide instructions on how to split your BTC into BCH. Since both Trezor and Ledger Nano S are providing native support for BCH Digital Bitbox has some catching up to do. Cannot recommend at this time.

The advantage Trezor has over Nano S is you can operate it with one hand. It takes two hands to press the buttons on the Nano S. This may not be important to you. KeepKey is quiet lately. They did post an update on BCH support today.

Is it safe to have backup of seed at friends if it is protected by additional passphrase offered by hardware wallets or is it easy enought to brute force it?

Using passphrases is a great idea but you are always better off keeping control of the seed yourself. Put it in a safe deposit box.

Has anyone moved to the new Segwit2X account and how was the impression.

Another thing: Whenever you are done using Trezor, how do you unplug it? Just pulling it, or is there a more proper aka refined way?

Cheers.

FYI: There is no 2X. It's only Segwit.

You can just unplug it and you will be fine. Or if you are using a public PC and don't want your Trezor device to appear in the list after leaving, you can "log out" of TREZOR Wallet by selecting your TREZOR device on the left panel and pressing Forget device.

Actually I am wondering about another thing, just in case you have the answers.  What happens if you lose the seed but still remember the pin, can you check your original seed somewhere?

What do you think of the TREZOR Hardware wallets? I'm thinking of getting one and would be interested to hear first hand complaints/compliments. For those who don't have experience with them, does the concept get you excited? I'd personally really like to have my wallet sitting in my pocket - without having to worry about third party wallet companies that could crash or be hacked etc.

really it is good wallet no doubt in this. in the market it had great demand so try to use this wallet. really it is excellent wallet. in this most safe public key and private key. buying and selling are great in this wallet.has any one tried other wallets and now using this wallet once absorve the difference. you always feel satisfy this wallet really more secure and safe.

Until now i did not hear from any security issues concerning trezors hardware wallets.
I, personally, like the ledger nano s more because it looks classy. Trezor appeals cheap when holding (light weight plastic).
The nano s on the other hand is a small sized "stick" which lookw pretty nice and feels smooth.
For me the previous version, the ledger nano, even looked better because it was like a "thin usb stick" with a nice surface.
But in the end its just personal preferences. Trezor is definetly safe!

No. If you lose your seed, but still have the PIN, the only way to recover your funds is to send the BTC to another wallet.

After initial setup, you can no longer view the seed.

...
Trezor is definetly safe!
You obviously missed the whole "critical flaw reveals Trezor seed in plaintext" security issue that occurred a couple of months ago... Anyone with physical access to the device could read your plaintext Seed and PIN from the device memory...

https://medium.com/@Zero404Cool/trezor-security-glitches-reveal-your-private-keys-761eeab03ff8

Granted, this has been patched in the latest firmware, but statements like "definitely safe" is tempting fate Tongue
