new tech, features, innovation always attract community to support, such as ripple,zcash,ltc,btc each one of them has unique function. in the other hand coins that has good development even it similar still being spot light as long as they can always keep the value going towards to the moon

What kind of innovations are "hot" or does the community want to see in a coin?

We have to decide on which algortihm and method(s) we will use for mining. Anti ASIC or ASIC friendly? Do we want a proof of stake coin?
What other "proofs" should we implement?

To constantly innovate we could put a team of (full-time) developers behind the cryptocurrency.

Yes but that doesn't just happen it takes patience and strategy. Studying and some luck that is what you need.

I like to see an active and dedicated Dev behind a coin I'm investing in I won't bother otherwise.
