The question is vague on purpose. I hope the question is provocative and gets people thinking.
For example.. Would you quit the Altcoins thing if ? - Your favorite coin was never mass adopted. - You lost a lot of money trading. - Tough laws were passed making all this far harder to do. - Bitcointalk shut down.
What would make you quit ? And you tell us all what "quit" would mean to you.
For example i quit.. but pretty much trading for profit only.

I'll quit altcoins maybe when bitcoin is dead with all my money, and all the alts I have money in are also dead with all investments. I think with all the losses and hard work done on earning those coins and tradings to make profits and then everything gone, there will be no point to doing it all over again. Till that time, I think I'll continue trading alts to accumulate profit.

Perhaps when my portfolio = 1mil AUD or BTC = 5000AUD for the same result. Crypto is here to stay, shitcoins will rise and fall and rise again. Seems silly to leave crypto behind when possibly in 20years I'll be forced to use it in one form or another.

i'll never quit until mining is profitable why should i? but if mining will be very centralized and only big farm chinese can mine in gpu in the future, or the diff will be too high for gpu miing, i would probably quit minign altcoin, and remain with trading only

Me too but generally i would quit altcoin if i see it consistent with flaws. Cause i know some coins have there ups and downs i would quit it. One thing for sure for me is i already am starting an outside business and i use coins for funding. That is to have a day job and not always in the internet watching and lurking for prices so i can have alternate income.

as soon as pump and dumps stop! it is pretty simple, i am here only to make more bitcoin. and as long as i am capable of doing that, even if it means a small amount of profit like 5% then i will continue doing it to add to my bitcoin stash and HODL and when the pumps stop and the dumping begins you can bet your ass that i was out of the market yesterday!

Very few altcoins are legit and most of the other coins are just shit coins. If a situation comes, when there is no more legit coin, then i would quit trading as there would be no nuse in trading at such a situation.

The exchanges would have to get regulated and attacked till we can no do altcoin business anymore. If that happens pretty much the only coins to have any future will be those on Coinbase and Kraken, along with privacy coins on darknets. Only new coins to ever enter the super regulated exchanges will only be special interest tokens moving forward and we can pray that one of the already in decentralized coins flourishes all the way

We all know that most of the pumps and dumps are artificial and Big fished make them, eat all of the money of small fishes. But there are some good altcoins and can earn from them in trading using the simple pumps and dumps.

Im not going to quit for the next 10 years anyway here's why, no-one can predict the future.
Here are a few of my examples to the questions asked above.
Would you quit the Altcoins thing if ?
- Your favorite coin was never mass adopted. - Litecoin lay virtually dormant for years, now showing strong activity.
- You lost a lot of money trading. - Dash in the space of a month March it rose from 0.031BTC to 0.117BTC and back to 0.071BTC but has still not fallen back to 0.031BTC still room for some rises.
- Tough laws were passed making all this far harder to do. - If laws were passed to monitor who is buying in and cashing out its still blockchain which is hard/difficult to track who is doing what. Buying in and cashing out im sure can be masked
- Bitcointalk shut down. - Virtually impossible to shut down

so false. because of a prediction i made an investment into bitcoin and it is paying off. i will say though that what was predicted has fully yet to come. also there are quite a few books which everyone knows that predicted todays world.

i personally do not going to quit trading alt coin. but some time whenever i invest my assets in bitcoin, then i only pause trading altcoin, but do not quit trading alt coin permanently. because some time i am also getting good profit from altcoin section.

Trading alt coin is quite fun actually. Specially if you know what coins are going to pump for a while. You just go with them and when its time to dump=profits. So I don't think I will quit trading because its really making me or others out there make good money in just a few days of trading.

i'll quit when i've made enough dollars to not have to think about money any more. that's the only reason to be into alts. i don't believe any of them will be here in ten years apart from as ghosts on forgotten exchanges.

hmm so we have here a celebration of lawless greed. Since the scene is essentially one massive pyramid scheme how long you think it will last ? I guess run with the greedy immoral hoards or leave. Wanting money and not giving a shit how you get are two different things. Apparently trying to ride the coat tails of what is pumped is the deal and it seems you all think that is acceptable behavior. So far there has been a lot of losers.. and many more to come. At this point it's hard to feel sorry for them when the next Cryptsy burns them. The direction is.. do what ever to make more money. So the bar will continue to get lower and i did not hear even 1 of you say that concerns you. On the contrary all i heard is i will keep playing the little game until i go broke. There was not 1 reply with a shred of morality here guys. Crypto turned into Doge shit long ago. Unfortunately i have integrity
