I'm out of this. I've mined and traded for hundreds of bitcoins since 2013. Got rid of a lot of that in the past year during the climb but this past few months is just ridiculous. There is no reasonable expectation for the price to stay high, and "hope" for even higher prices can't possibly outweigh the potential loss if this doesn't work out.
I can't be alone in thinking, enough is enough. I see so many posts by guys with one or ten btc, hoping for astronomical numbers, but where are the rest of the people like me who had a few hundred and can actually do something with that now. I wish I'd started mining a year or two earlier when I first heard of it. If I was sitting on a few thousand BTC right now, holding half of that and cashing out half makes sense. But where I was, keeping a few for some dream number doesn't really make a difference in my life.

I never got into altcoins enough to matter, although it would have been nice to put a few grand into ETH last year, but it's just another useless product that could have failed like so many others, and I doubt I would have held it through 5-10x increases.

So what do you guys say. Is this it for you? This is more than I'd ever imagined to get from BTC. This could turn around in a few days if people catch another panic selloff. Are you being greedy? Am I just dumb for wanting to enjoy life now?

btw, it's been years, and bitcoin still isn't really useful for transactions. I still can't get normal people to use it, even for quick exchanges. There might be people doing good stuff with blockchain technology, but that doesn't really require "bitcoin" to work. The few stores that were accepting bitcoin have and are still immediately cashing out because of risk.

It would also be a terribly bad idea for someone to dump more than they could afford to throw away into this now. I've lost basically everything before, it sucks, and it takes a long time to recover. I wasn't going to let that happen again with BTC.

I've just been here since December and didn't start buying until much later and so I understand that you have much more to lose if this don't turn out right. If you really feel that this could blow over within a few months and won't risk most of your savings then I suppose it would be really safer for you to cash out now. You at least already have a hundred, I don't even have one and probably would not have considering some of my money got stuck in some alt I bought.

BTC100 is fairly large enough and would go a long way should you use it for a start-up. This is a problem I wish I have.  Grin Regardless of what you choose to do with it, good luck.

Enjoy life is not a bad thing but selling off your bitcoin because of panic is not a nice ideas. Just yesterday I bought some coins with my bitcoin and made over 12% after sell off today. I will advise you to sell half and keep half so you will not regret not buying into the next pump. Bitcoin is still at the infancy stage and price will still be moving up days to come.

This had nothing to do with a panic. I made that mistake a few times at the last crazy spike. Your advice of keeping half is irrelevant at this point. It's gone, and keeping half wouldn't be life changing for me, not until it reached btc 10k or more. Why not enjoy it now, not be greedy. I'm not looking for advice on my situation, I've done very well.

I'm asking why people who are keeping a moderate amount of btc, say 100-1000, would be staying in at this point.

I think you are taking decision too fast. There is still great hope out there. And if you already have that much BTC then why don't you just save it and forget about them for a year or something. This will definitely pay you off after a year as the price is climbing very high. You should keep patience.

this is just the beginning mate, whatever you were seeing before this pump was just the warm up to prepeare bitcoin to reach the sky, i agree that there is still much missing here like block limit, more user friendly wallet, and more security for people thta don't know anythign about bitcoin, but all this will be fixed in the future, bitcoin is sure a great invention you can't just be done with it, bitcoin is here to stay it's not a thing that will be forgotten, it's a revolution like it was for internet

i just want to thank you for selling your 100 or maybe more coins. it is good for the rest of us because when someone with a large stash from the old cheap days sells it creates a much better distribution which i can even call fair distribution for those of us who got into bitcoin 2015- 2016 or 2017 and so on.

and there are a lot of perfectly good reasons for the price rise, you are just not seeing it for some reason.

There is a FOMO brewing...

No, you are not dumb, you are tired. If you think that this amount of bitcoin you own is enough, then it is your decision to left the scene.
The beauty of btc is that to profit you don't need to do anything really, just store your coins and wait - do exactly that, take a break and wait.
Don't sell your whole stash, definitely not now, there is still potential for huge price growth, especially now when scaling solution is at hand.

I'm sorry that you feel that way but the basic rule for all investments is to only play with money that you can afford to lose. Yes we're riding a new wave that can suddenly come crashing down but the same is true with all investments.
If you only risk an amount of money you are 'okay' with losing then you should be in the clear when it comes to deciding whether or not to stay in the game.

There are still many aspects of this market that I need to understand. What I can say is that if we are in a bubble, I think it's just the beginning...
There's still time for Bitcoin to take a few steps back, get some price correction and maintain a more steady rate of growth.

It's okay to quit and enjoy your life with what you have earned, but you should leave no doubts with this decision. Just forget about BTC, don't look at prices, don't check altcoins. If Bitcoin will reach $3000, $5000, $10 000, you shouldn't allow yourself to feel any regret, remember that when you made your decision you couldn't know the future and the opposite outcome was possible and would've hurted you more than you can afford.
So, I wish you to live a happy life and never regret anything!

I am sure that the current price of bitcoin doesn't really have a base and it's hollow. However, it is still holding onto the value and not decreasing much. But as an investor, I believe we all want the same to happen even tough it doesn't sound real. Because we can make a good money from this.

So no matter how hollow the price is, bitcoin will have public support and many people like me will continue investing in bitcoin. Because, bitcoin price is the most important factor for us. However, like me, many people have also started investing in ETH because I foresee it as the next big thing after bitcoin.

You're done with bitcoin, some of us, including me, are just starting. You've gained enough benefit and all of this is all up to you. Enjoying the fun in life now is your decision and we are happy for you. We, beginners, would want to experience such achievement you had. Maybe, just wish us luck.

To those you, OP, pertain who hold hundreds of bitcoin is not greedy for me at all. It would seem that they just want to gain more for future purposes and not to take it all. It's their decision just like yours to be done with bitcoin. Respect is all we can do for all of them, I mean all of them.

Man, good for you for cashing out with a decent profit.  The rest of us pee-ons are doing exactly what you just said, which is hoping to sell higher to the next sucker.  So to speak.  That's what most people are doing.  And you're smart for not getting into altcoins; they are a collective scam.  No one is going to be using any of those in a few years (I don't think).

So no I'm not done with this game.  I find it an exciting one to play, but having said that I don't have a lot of money invested in it.  If we crashed back to $100 next week I'd be OK.

Nope, in fact I'm rather warming myself into it . The game is yet to begin to be and so it's more buying less selling and spending mixed with more holding until the good times come.

I am done with segwit and all the nonsense between "users" and miner pools.
There is no way Bitcoin would recover if something serious should be fixed by a hard fork.
They would fight this consensus thing in to their own grave.
Im out, since 2063.1 USD.

Fucking with Bitcoin since 2012
