No need to change symbols, the official symbol means two 'P' connected by a bar, it's not 'IP', but two 'P's, but if you draw actual two P's it would look ugly. You can move the vertical bar 'I' to the right and inside 'P' though, if you think that would look more like two 'P's.

I'll do that tomorrow see how it looks , plus try and make it more golden looking ........ Don't suppose it should have an ocean coloured edge to it ?........

How about this for the lettering?

It's using the Khmer UI font. I can provide a vector if there's any interest.

+1 I liked the clean a minimalist approach.

Bottom left as well. Excellent job! Now we can fight back and reclaim our #3 position that we just lost to Namecoin

I like bottom left as well. Good work.

I am starting to really like PPCoin after doing more research into it. It is good to have a popular SHA-256 alt. If something is found wrong with scrypt, then having another popular SHA-256 ALT would be important. I think I'll probably switch at least 1 of my rigs over, PPCoin will be around for a long time.

Sunny King is one of the best developers the ALT coin ecosystem has. He is very active in the forums, and even fixes other chains such as Terracoin by exposing vulnerabilities and helping fix them.

I think this is the first time I've admitted this in public.. I'm probably going to be a PPCoin supporter soon.  Smiley

SHA-256 is too good to not have a popular ALT coin for it. All BTC hardware works with it, so once ASICs are readily available, the PPC network will be really secure as more and more ASICs start to switch over to PPC as ASICs get cheaper to buy and less profitable on BTC as their difficulty sky rockets.

Yes it's a full vector image, I think it'll require a good few more thumbs up before sunny will be interested in it, if he does approve it then I'll release the vectors or if he wants any adjustments I'll make those first , I may add more detail on leaves etc. etc.

Consider making some physical PPcoins then?

PPcoin has great potential. It also has to be security audited in the very near future. Sunny King please arrange for a proper security audit so we can push to make PPcoin mainstream.

The same sentiments apply even after 6 months. We need to bring this to the mainstream. It's the #4 Alt Coin now.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=127954.0

As per Fido:

Quote
Criticisms of PPcoin:

(1) The author has not published a Design Document or a Protocol Specification ... only an extremely shallow non-academic whitepaper , which prevents analysis of how addition of proof-of-stake affects the security model.

(2) The author is not amenable to community suggestions (such as integrating the proof-of-stake and proof-of-work blocks together, rather than keeping them separate) to increase security.

(3) There have been numerous criticisms regarding the PPcoin protocol security on these forums, but the PPcoin author seems to take a 'trust me I'll fix it in the next release' approach to security.  Why rush to release PPcoin in an immature form (with an awful name), rather than taking the time to get the design right from the start?   Arrogance and secrecy is not a substitute for security.

(4) It appears the PPcoin algorithm uses SHA256 rather than Scrypt.  Why is this fact so buried (in that we need to wade through the source to learn about it?)

(5) Lack of transparency.  There is not an open discussion of flaws, strengths, weaknesses and possible attacks.  These are shot down by the author as being 'unrealistic' even though these attacks (accumulating 'stake' to attack the protocol) are quite realistic.

(6) The phonetic name "Pee-pee coin"... Would Coca-Cola have succeeded if it was called "PP-cola"?

As such, I do not consider PPcoin to be a secure alternative cryptocurrency.   Certainly not until the PPcoin author takes the time to draft and publish a comprehensive and detailed design document and/or protocol specification (with rationale for design choices, strengths, weaknesses, etc) to the community (rather than suggesting the community wade through the source code , and reverse engineer the protocol from the source).

Possibly- I'm not sure the market is ready for them though. It takes a very large investment to get physical coins made at a decent price point... about a years' worth of an average US salary. There needs to be more work done in the PPC community before I would undertake such a project. The risk is high enough making the LTC version, it is somewhat exponentially increased when it comes to PPC.

I am all about communities.. that's one of the biggest reasons I've supported Bitcoin and Litecoin. I think if a coin has a hardworking and devoted community, then it will sustain the test of time. I'm not sure if PPC is quite there yet, but I like the idea behind the coin and the proof of steak, also Sunny is a boss.  Smiley

From logo concepts presented here, I would prefer the latest with the PP on top of each other. About the couple coins in that candidate, the middle one of those looks better than left. That's probably the higher contrast between leaf colors and background/text. You could try playing around with little darker shades of green on those most light green colored leaves. That might make left one look as good as middle one. Maybe even more presentable as there would be basically two colors yellow and green, instead of multiple shades of yellow. I don't know whether gradient has effect as well, since its present in the middle one but not on the left one. I guess comparing them side by side would help.

It seems we are restricting ourselves with the design of the actual coins that have been used for thousands of years, which is natural. I don't think there any reason to diverge too much from the original concept since its familiar to everyone. Just wanted to give your creative minds something to think about. However, coins have usually been of a single color and many cryptocoins have followed suit. This does not have to be the case in this time and age and with this currency technology. After all, coins with digital money are not made of a single precious metal.

Since coins have been made from precious metals, images and texts were presented by engraving them. What would these coin candidates look with little bit of depth perspective included in them? Similar to the pandacoin right there, it looks like it has "depth".

I think it might be difficult to find good balance between simple and detailed, but wasn't this thread made to do trial and error Smiley

As pointed out to me on the PPcoin forum it's better if a graphic designer handles this one, I look forward to seeing what ideas they have there must be a decent number of capable folk here on the forum if it's worth doing its worth doing right, there's any number of directions a re-design could take if indeed a redesign is required just thought i would throw a few ideas out there to get the ball rolling  Cheesy.

I am no graphic designer but i needed something for my shop (DirectVoltage.com) so i mashed a couple of ideas together.

The yellow an the green really make it stand out.  I am going with this until something better comes along

Is this about changing the name to P2PCoin or PeerCoin, or just getting a different logo?
