Were you able to pay in bitcoin?

Coinbase for selling BTCs or Vircurex for trading alt cryptocurrencies like DOGEs

No, however we did find out that there is a local ice-cream/coffee/waffle shop that accepts bitcoin, so perhaps next time we will meet there!   Cool
