They were one of the few crypto sites that offered bets on Test cricket. Hope Cloudbet opens up that market.

It's mostly because of huge loses. Now everyone says and thinks that gambling is a really profitable business for the owner and indeed it profitable but sports betting doesn't depend much on luck when compared with other sites and nowadays we see so many people predicting and most of those end up winning. At least they didn't scam anyone and made a public announcement before closure

Like I said before its likely not the fees because other sites have started charging players the fees, so that is not the reason.

I have a feeling they are rooting for a healthy retirement. I won't be surprised if they made over 2000-3000 btc over this entire ordeal. After all they have been here a long time.
and their side also says directbet success is great so the possibility of fee/finance is not possible. for retirement there maybe but it's better to keep running it to increase their retirement money if they have a family. Maybe also about gambling law in their country? I can't understand the reason why they decided to close it.

Directbet was one of my favorite site and it was so easy to use. There was no registration required to bet and i mostly bet on cricket matches. No other site offers so lots of betting option in cricket as direct bet offered and i really missing this site. I never face any type of probelm with the site and i heard thier support was also very supportive. Really a big loss in the gambling world.

They are saying the reason of closure was the growing price of Bitcoin, growing transaction fees, or both.
I actually don't understand why a site that holds a large amount of coins would be worried by them suddenly gaining value, and fees should be regulated in the near future.
I agree it's a shame as it was a great site, but you always have Nitrogen Wink

Fees are really high to an average. There are lots of daily payment settlements in Directbet everyday that if you will sum up all the transactions fees, it is relatively high. Some regulations will solve the problem about their automatic payouts but too late to think of that since they are already close.

These are also happening in some of the institutions in bitcoin world. As an example, look at those famous web exchanges that offers free transactions fees to their users back then, now also applying some fees because they can't handled the current fees while at the same time, the massive volumes that is increasing everyday.

I don't see it as a real problem.
A casino doesn't have to pay high fees for instant transfers, but can keep them moderate.
Fees are paid by the user, not by the casino.
Users can wait until their balance is high enough before withdrawing, to save money on fees.

Fees don't discourage me from sending transactions, I usually send with average fees and I,m ok with waiting 24h for my transactions to confirm. No rush, it will go through sooner or later lol.

Maybe they decided to cash out their bitcoins & crypto when prices rose higher than $2k btc?

That could explain the massive sell off and price decrease. Especially if many others decided to do something similar at the same time.

 Huh

They seemed to run a legit business, hope they did well for themselves.

It is quite possible that they wanted to take advantage of the current price and want to make a good profit out of the price of bitcoin rather than the profit earned through running the site, not only bitcoin but all of the alt coin had a good rally and the profit they will be havin selling off the coins will be much larger ,just my assumption. They never said anywhere that they are closing the site because of price of bitcoin is growing or the transaction fees are bothering them,it is just a rumor spreading by people like you. Tongue ,what they said is that the admin wants to pursue other dreams and he wants to focus his attention to other ventures and if someone feels like he wants to do something else,so be it,despite that it is hard to see the site close too soon.

I'm still trying to find another sports book like Directbet that takes bets on horse racing and also Super Rugby as I'm now back to betting with Bet365. I really hope that they return in the future as this sports book was the best cryptocurrency sports book to use in my opinion.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

From their quote they are clear on their stand and focus on different services. If they have the plan of coming back to the service they might have not stopped it. They might have started the different services in a parallel manner because this was running in a perfect manner. I believe the closure might have happened because of pressure from government.

well they said in one pot that directbet.eu was not for sale, so that means they will probably come back.
I know they had some problems in some games, because it happened while I was participating in their tipster championship, so maybe they decided to stop for a while, fix things, create some new features that could interfere with their actual service, and then just come back even better than they already were. Don't know if dealing with BTC price is hard for sportsbookers as well, but since the others are still in business I don't think the price had anything to do with it.

If seen from their main threads, they do not lock or change the title of the thread to be closed or anything. They're just locking the game's thread prediction score, I think also directbet closes its site not because of the rising bitcoin price and that's not a reason that is acceptable to a great site like directbet. Maybe they just need a long enough time to vacation and refresh themselves and I'm sure they'll come back with a big surprise.

Does anyone know how to reach the folks at directbet?
I had a long dated wager on the Houston Astros to win the World Series (Major League Baseball).
I heard they were honoring all outstanding bets, but I don't know how to get in touch with them to get this bet settled.
The website is gone, the email addresses bounce, and they have not been active on the forum since August.
