Does anyone have any experience with this? What setup are you running? What's your profit margins like? Does CPU matter as much as I've heard? Does the rig use much in the way of power/network etc?

I have 25TB, or so, but after two months, filled is only 3TB, You need 1 core per 1hdd, or maybe it's not necessary in new builds, I;m not sure about this. Its eating shitload of RAM. I have 100mbit upload speed, thats quite reasonable for this purposes. If you have something like dual-core with 4GB ram and 10mbit upload speed, you can forget about storj. And last payout was 80 dorra, or something, but that payout for last month, didn't arrive till this day, because of fucking counterparty, I don't even expect it this month, because BTC mempool is only filling up with unconfirmed transactions. So you have to consider if this really worth to you.

Thanks for your reply! I'm leaning towards something like this: https://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/c1c79f82-d8f2-4b8b-a95a-e34fb0f31fb1 (just a 4TB drive to start off with, I can add more later if it proves to be profitable!) - I have 180mb upload speed so that shouldn't be an issue. Don't you get paid in tokens rather than BTC?

You're paid with SJCX, but it's counterparty token built on BTC blockchain.

which will soon (tm) migrate to eth tokens regarding your build: i5 isnt exactly low power, but when you use this pc for other things as well it might be worth i successfully used j1800 for 2-4 drives and tested a j1900 with 4 drives, no issues (though they recommend 1 core per drive) both cpus are soldered onto the mb and have 10W tdp, ram isnt expensive, i had 8gigs lying around, but usage with 4 drives only spiked to 2.4gigs (though they recommend 1gig per drive) with storj your main bottleneck (if there is much traffic in the whole network) will be you internet connection

That being said the rig wouldn't be used for anything else (and I don't pay power so that's not an issue). Internet speed is pretty fast (150mbs DL/180mbs UL) so shouldn't have an issue there.

I suggest mining burst while waiting for storj to fill up your drive.

im still waiting on my plots to verify the performance of the j1900 for burst mining That was (partially) the reason why I went for an i5, to balance between storj and burst to start off and see which is more viable long-term.
