Simple information

1. Nobody knows so if you ask you will get 1000000 advices. And remember it's not their money so they can easily give you shit advice.
2. If you have the money then why not give it a try. If you don't invest you will never win (or lose).
3. You might want to consider waiting for the next bear market and try buying lower or just ride out the 10 years hoping this was low compared to the $100k in 2027 ;-P.
4. Waiting 10 years is a good plan and I believe it will either be at least 1000% higher or extinct. But I would read up on Bitcoin and make an educated guess on when to get out.
5. You could do a phased buy. Buy 0.1 BTC every week or month. This will give you an average buy rate.
6. Look at the history charts and try and see patterns.
7. Greed kills so don't make any rush judgements.
8. If you still want to do the 10 year plan then stick to it and don't get scared even if it goes down the shitter for a while.

Anyway. Read up and make your own plan and stick to it.

I think that bitcoin will be >1000% higher in 10 years.


I have been in Bitcoin since 2013 and my plan has been to hold until 2020.
My reasoning has been that the game will change when mining is no longer profitable and only few coins are to be mined.
I have tried trading with 1 BTC and lost most of it, but learnt a lot about trading.
Now I view my BTC holdings as a lottery ticket which has a high potential of winning the lottery
So in essence I am running the same plan as you are and I believe a lot of people are doing that too.

In the beginning I was a bit scared seeing it all plummet but nowadays I don't care. I forget about Bitcoin regularly and don't obsess on it anymore.

The first question you should be asking yourself is - will I care if I never see that $6000 or so again?

If it's a yes then it's time to look into it. 10 years will be more than two halvings away. If Bitcoin survives and thrives it will pay off.

There will never, ever be more than 7 million people who can own more BTC than you. Multiply that by a big chunk of the planet that wants Bitcoin and you might end up with a favourable result.

Quite possible.  Depends where Bitcoin goes as a speculative investment, a "digital gold" or as a practical currency.  There are a lot of factors that could affect this.

No, except for in the unlikely scenario that people give up on upgrading Bitcoin and move to a centralised altcoin with more powerful developers, or in the unlikely scenario that you lose your private keys/seed.

Absolutely not.  It's very unlikely that Bitcoin will stabilise in price until it's found its place in society.  If that place is nowhere, the price will be zero.  As satoshi put it:

There is always risk in every investment, the possibility of getting profit from it is quite big.  Since Bitcoin have still huge way to go to saturate the market.  If ever Bitcoin solved its scalability, I believe, option one will more likely to happen.  You will be rich.  Deflation and exponential adoption is the key factor in Bitcoin price increase.  So definitely the price of bitcoin might be 10x after 10 years.

There are some things today that backing up the bitcoin price increase so it's reasonable to believe that it will go up more plus some of the expected big news that will happen this year. If those postive speculations will happen then expect more big surprises for many years to come.

For spare money of mine, why not? If those money that will you used will not affect your current financial status as you will consider that amount as "loss" for now because you will idle it then you go with that plan.

In addition to what others have said if I have that amount of money that I am not using and I am sure even if I lose it, it won't affect my financial status by any means, I tell you I will gladly make that decision without looking back because I am sure I am forgetting about it and that is the most important thing. But when you do, just don't be distracted about whatever its going to happen to price in the short term focus on the long term.

If kinds of questions like that are easy to answer then we might get rich by now and able to hold bitcoin back when the price reaches it's lowest price after Mt Gox saga. The one you should do is to take the risk if you can afford to spend that kind of amount to puchase BTC3 and see what will happen. Realistically it's not enough to just put trust on bitcoin but learn the real thing that can push the bitcoin price in unimaginable price.
