How would that be the smartest decision? You can never know if bitcoin is going to survive the next 10 years or it's going to fall and became valueless. It's just a risky investment.
You better invest it somewhere where you will get some interest and can keep track of bitcoins. If anything bad is about to happen just sell them.

You cannot predict anything if you buy 3 bitcoin now @2000$+ and after 10 years you see bitcoins are priced @200$ what will you do? You have lost much money. 10 years is a really long time to hold bitcoin. So, my opinion to you is just buy bitcoins when it is around 1000$ and then sold it when it goes up. keep checking its price daily check market and when it goes up sale it out.

Nothing much would happen you will suddenly discover your wallet with 10 btc and see it's totaly value will be some 100k and then you will either make another accou here or just post with this account another topic 'Found a wallet with 10 btc in it'. After you post that your pm will get flooded with people giving you useless tips and asking you if you can share some with them. But to the point of you actually plan to do that , then it's a really good idea in my opinion

It is a good idea but 10 years is a seriously long duration and a lot of things happen in a span of 10 years. I mean the price of bitcoins might reach something very enormous but maybe you do a mistake and loose them all, or there is something that makes you loose.

I believe better than that would be you buy bitcoins and keep an eye on the price and be active but don't get tempted and make a firm mindset that you won't sell them at all, no matter what. I mean to say that don't just forget things, I had like 10 million doges in an addy some years ago now I can't recall which wallet it was

That is what holders have doing from the very beginning, they buy bitcoin and then they forget about them, it is a simple strategy but one of the most effective in the long run, however there is a difference between not moving the coin and forgetting about bitcoin, try to stay in top of the news that way if something happens you could be able to sell and not lose your investment.

Never never invest more than what you can lose. Some people can't afford to lose 3 BTC x todays price. Some people can. If you can afford to lose that amount then go for it. Maybe you can only risk buying 1 BTC. Maybe 0.5 BTC. Based on the underlying economics of bitcoin, in 10 years you will either have made an extremely big profit or you will have nothing. that is completely wrong.
if and when a chain split happens, any coin that has existed on the main chain (the chain that existed before the fork) will always be valid because any new chain is building on top of that chain. there is no "minor chain" here.

lets say you receive bitcoin on block #475095 (which was mined 14 minutes ago) and fork happens after a while on block #475500 and two chains exist. these two chains are building their blocks on top of previous blocks they both have the same block #0 to block #475500 but their blocks  #475501 and above are different.

It will depend on how much money you consider to become rich, so if after 10 years a single bitcoin is going for 10 grand or so i wouldn't say you rich and losing all your money is practically impossible at the moment you might make a handsome profit after waiting for a long time and a loss is out of the picture

I think you are talking about the value of bitcoin in the future, I think it can continue to exist for a long time, so its value will increase in the future. If you buy it for storage, and then you to lose it, that really is a pity.

I think in the future, the supply of Bitcoin is not so much so that Bitcoin price will increase more than now so if you hold 3 BTC for 10 years from now, I think you will be rich, really rich.

I think in the future, the supply of Bitcoin is not so much so that Bitcoin price will increase more than now so if you hold 3 BTC for 10 years from now, I think you will be rich, really rich.

That's right the supply of bitcoin is limited and its demand can go much higher then our expectations which will make the price of bitcoins to touch the moon and in that case if he holds his 3 btc for next 10 years then he can expect huge profits from it which can surely make him rich in future.

Right now, there are some prices decline and it seems bitfinex show the lowest exchange rate around $2224 and may continue to decrease. And the highest price rate since May 22^th maybe around $2800-$2950, if you've bought 3 bitcoin when it was $2252 and sold it at $2900, then you should get $1944 profits. But, if you didn't sell it, don't worry. I will definitely take the chance to buy bitcoin whenever dip occurs and wait for 10 years later, my bitcoin value will increase obviously just like what happens all this time.
