Hello everyone, I wish to set myself a rig in order to mine the ethereum at first. I know that this one will become impossible soon, so I will surely slip on the ZCash. Always it is that I wish to invest in 2000 € of material to create this one and I was wondering if someone could advise me. Indeed until now I had only mining with a single graphics card, so I'm not sure about the choice to make for a rig in itself ... Moreover, do you think it is really profitable to invest in mining gear rather than buying the crypto currency directly? Thanks in advance for your time

I didn't regret buying rig instead of crypto. It has made me more. RX 480 8gb is good card for ether, if you can get them. Now 580 is out. For zcash there are better cards out there.

it's better to go with 570 or rx 580 with amd, 480 is an old gpu already, but i would suggest nvidia now, on skein they do pretty good, the 180ti is beast of gpu can mine you an insane amount of $ in one month, try to look at newegg if you are in the USA or just amazon

I would like to take rx 480 because they have the best performance in Mhash compared to al electricity consumption. If I'm not mistaken... Compared to investing in Nvidia graphics cards I'm not sure, I've read a lot that amd cards were better for mining.

that's not really true, nvidia are on par if not better than amd now, with many algorithm pro nvidia, also amd consume more per hahs than nvidia on average, the efficiency is better on nvidia and was always like that in the past

So what's your advice, take 3 GTX 1070 and not 6 rx480 ?
Like I said before, I can't put more than 2000€ for the moment in my rig...

Why rx 480 8gb?
580 and the rest new cards have marginally better or the same hashrates as 4XX cards. At the same time their power consumption is like up to 30% higher and the cards themselves are still quite expensive. On the other hand soon we'll have no choice as 4XX cards will simply run out of stock everywhere.

The RX 580s are the future, whether you like it or not. Stock is hard to find. I have multiple in-stock notifications and buy them when they pop up. What I really need is a Ingram Micro or Tech Data account .

the rx570/580 cards are just a rebrand of the 470/480s. Its basically the exact same card. The 470/480s are quite hard to find at the usual price of $200-250 now. Bunch of 3rd party sellers gouging the prices. Go for the 5xx cards.. when the Vega series come out I'm sure you'll see 5xx come down in price.

I have these, they're mining away at 28.x, they're stable and have good cooling, with an outside temperature of about 35 Celsius they are at about 60-65 which is awesome!

Happy to read that, now I just need to find a mobo for 6 graphic cards I already have 3 risers usb pci to pci e Depending on the motherboard I will find, I will buy other risers in pci-e to pci-e or pci to pci-e For the psu I think I need a minimum of 1000w

For six cards you require a minimum of 1300w for sure...

You could do it with a 1000w PSU as I have 2 rigs that do that but I will say it is better to go with a 1200W-1300W so that you can more safely dual mine and not have to worry about stressing your PSU.

MSI z170-a PRO or MSI z170a gaming m5, if you can get a hold of an ASRock h81 pro btc that would also be good.

Yup that is valid, if you have an old hard drive you can use it to save money on the SSD but all in all that is a pretty good rig.
