I am new to mining and wanted a few suggestions on parts for my first eth mining rig.
I have a budget of 2k - 2.5k

Mother Board: ASRock Z97 LGA 1150
Chip: Intel Celeron G1840 Proccessor
PSU: Thermaltake TOUGHPOWER 1200W GOLD
RAM: 4GB kingston HyperX FURY
Riser Cables: 6 pack , 60cm or 50cm
Case: Build one or possibly buy one online

GPU:
1. Radeon Pulse RX 500 ---> Having trouble finding it
2. Radeon Nitro RX 480 ---> Trouble finding it
3. Radeon Red Devil RX 470 ---> Found it

I would really appreciate some help with finding the right GPU. I would like to use SimpleMining OS, ethos, or a linux distro.
Any suggestions welcome.
I am slightly overwhelmed, I am not the best with hardware, software is more my thing.
Thanks

You going to mine eth and not zec? I am doing a build right now of a 3 card GTX 1080 ti that will do 2100 H/s zec with about 600 watts power used. You won't have problems with a multi 6 plus card build and you can find deals on the 1080 ti. I just got a couple at B&H photo for around $660 each plus $10 shipping. A lot easier to get a mb for 3 cards than 6 and you can get a EVGA 850 watt Titanium  PSU for $200 at Newegg.  Low noise and less heat equals easier to manage plus the wife won't be yelling at you for heating up the house. IMHO.

Thanks for the response.

What do you mean by "I will not have problems with a multi 6 card plus build"?
But you recomend a three card? That sounds good too.

Are you suggesting that I build a rig with 3 EVGA GeForce GTX cards?
I am interested in mining Zec but it is mostly for eth.

Well actually it is really to just learn to mine and hopefully at least break even on what I spend, I am very new to this.

Most of the info I found online was about building a 6 card rig.
What operating system will you be using for your rig?
Will this setup mine eth efficiently?

It does get really hot where I live. 90f+......

For my 3 card GTX 1080 ti rig I am using windows 10 pro. Just to have the flexibility to switch between zec, eth, and other alts.  It's ok mining eth. Will do about 120 MH/s for eth. But it  will do zec at 2100 Sol/s at 600 watts.

A similar 6 card rig with RX 480's will 150 MH/s eth and 1700 Sol/s unmodded at 900 watts.  I got the inspiration to do this build after reading a post by Philipma who did a build with 3 GTX 1080 ti's.

I have done multiple 6 card rig builds and they have all been work to get the cards going. A 3 card setup will be easy and it will use less electricity.  Also 1/3 less heat. Some don't care about heat or sound but it's all about tolerance.

Plus if you decide that mining is not your thing then you can use the 1080 ti's to build an awesome sli gaming rig.

Just curious, what are you parameters for switching to a different coin? Or do you do it manually based on whatever the stats are? Ive got mine narrowed down to zec and eth but wondering if I should just stick with one for a while. ETH seems to generate the most $ for my rig right now. Id like to add more cards and possibly another board (eventually)

I believe I will have an easier time with Linux and the AMD drivers?

Windows 10 is not an option.

Other than that I am very interested in building your setup.

It is more based on what hardware I can get going at the best price. I have a couple of 6 card rigs with older gigabyte r9 280x that do zec at 1800 Sol/s at 900 watts. Not the most power efficient but for a 4 year old card not bad and they can be purchased for $100 each. You could get a 6 card rig going doing zec for around $1000.  They don't do so well at eth mining.

For eth I have a couple of rigs with gtx 1070 cards that do 180 MH/s.  R9 Fury's do well at zec but at a power cost. If power is not an issue a Fury  will do zec at 450 Sol/s  and eth at 30 MH/s. Not bad for a card that you can get for around $275.

My new build of a 3 card 1080 ti machine is for mining zec at 2100 Sol/s at 600 watts. Right now the mining diff between coins on this setup is not big so I choose to do zec. But if eth mining become more profitable by a big margin then I will switch.

I know people trash old cards but you can get deals on them and build a decent rig on the cheap. Also the R9 280x are bullet proof. I ran my rigs for two years mining LTC before switching last year to mining eth and then three months ago to zec. I have not had to rma any of those cards and I do an occasional dust cleaning of the heat sinks and fans. This is all the maintenance I do. I don't re paste the gpu.

I pay about .12 per kilowatt. I have building ac that I don't pay for and so I cool my miners this way and keep the office at 78C. Kind of warm but I am comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt.  More than 5KW and I start to heat up the office space.  So the more efficient the miner, the better it is for me.

electricity here is 16 cents. Is that really bad. All I really want to do is break even and have fun.

so is that possible paying 16 cents for electricity
I guess I can calculate that...

For zcash I use nvidia.

4x1060 (3GB) + 1x1080 -> 510W from the wall on Watt-meter at time of writing this post.

1.528 kH/s   , 3.637 H/J from Excavator stats.
