Parts are being shipped, perhaps this weekend will be the "table test run" but need to choose good motherboard - any recommendations?
It most likely will be win10 build, but possibly one of the Linux based distros, its not decided yet, helping someone on this any suggetions are much appreciated.

Forget about the motherboard, you have plenty of options (ASROck H61/H81 Pro BTC, Asus PRIME Z270-A, Biostar motherboards, etc) but what power supply are you going to use that has 12 x 8 pin connectors? Or you're going with two?

It is to me, some shops still have them but they're around $135.

you either use a big psu like the 1500watt from corsair or the 2000 watt from super flower, but all these still luck the amount of ables you need, i would just buy those in addition you can find them easily on the web especially corsair

It will be 2 HP server psu's 1200w each + PC ATX supply for mobo.
currently 120V but thinking about mounting in that big DPS-2400 model(dont have it yet, but will be considered as an option) cards/pcie wont be powered by atx. Noisy, but secure.
Motherboard wise - are z170 any good or there are some limitations? z87 perhaps can be found relatively cheap or pcie version matters?

If you plan to mine XMR with the CPU then look for Xenon CPUs else any cheap Celeron CPU will do. And for RAM any 4GB DDR5 will do, find the cheapest and you will be set.

The only one I've seen is the Rosewill HERCULES-1600S with 16 x 6+2-Pin
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0723W13844

I'd love to hear if anyone has found any others

You have to really watch the power on these though because it's easy to hit 250W which would put you right at 1500W with 6 cards Smiley

I think most of the Xenon on LGA 1150 has AES-NI set, but I am not sure though.
