Was looking at one of my rigs, and the card was running at 94'C. Saw the fan kept stopping and starting, maybe 10rpm or so? His the PSU switch, and pulled out the card. I can tell it's worn down or something. The past few months it was getting louder, so I figured it was on it's way out. I can spin the fan with my fingers, but it feels like it's un-lubed or something. It doesn't spin as freely as the other fans do.
I remember seeing a thread awhile back about fixing GPU fans. Can't I drill into the fan someplace, and add a drop of a certain oil?
Pull fan out with a Vice grip
Apply IPA on the fan hole, put the fan in gently, rotate to clean the hole
Pull fan out again
Apply 4 -5 drops of engine oil or automatic transmission fluid in the fan axis hole and press fan in.
