Well they are Japanese Company, and Japan has just embraced bitcoin so they are also jumping into the bandwagon. It doesn't surprise me at all. Everybody is Japan is going crazy about bitcoin so this is the perfect timing to manufactured it and start the ball rolling to so that the general public can used them.

We do need more companies investing in the hardware ecosystem. With more ATM manufacturers, hopefully the price of an ATM will come down and we will see more ATMs in our neighbourhoods. A lot of people prefer buying bitcoins in person, rather than wiring money on the internet.

The second wave! Its called a shake-out. Fasten you seat belts its about to get real.

I am legitimately geeked about this. Japanese society does not fuck around with automated vending technologies; not only can you get virtually anything from a vending machine in Japan (including some really questionable shit), the are ubiquitous and don't charge for the extra functionality they provide. If they enter the market, the fees will come down, and the bar for service/ features will raise. As a consumer, I definitely approve Wink

Good news. It is nice to see more people having easy access on Bitcoin.

I have a question though. Do Bitcoin ATM's really make money? I do not believe they do unless they set the spreads so high which would be bad for the buyer.

This seems to be a common news, because Japan has officially accepted bitcoin everywhere same as the traditional currency of their country. Right now people need more ease in accessing their bitcoins for which bitcoin ATM's were must. Right now one of the top ATM manufacturer entering the business is quite good and makes things in a better way.

That is great news.  Japan has to be part of this huge movement upward in BTC's price.  "The more the merrier."

Re BTC ATMs, in the USA the fees are typically around 14%, yes very high, but the owners of the "BTMs" have to buy the machine, maintain it, pay rent to the store and collect the money (probably each day).  Sounds expensive to me to do all that.

@ TheWallStreetCrew

Yes, it DOES seem like the pace is picking up...  Maybe this will grow exponentially (maybe it already HAS, we might just be seeing the curve get steeper).  But with big bumps along the way.  The next crash will be a doozy for sure.

Is this the same company that manufacture printers? If it is, I am very exited about this. We still use some of their OKI dot-matrix printers in some of our offices for old legacy systems and after all of these years, they are still going strong. The quality of workmanship on those old printers are much better than the shit that are being mass produced today.

If they can build these ATM's with the same quality standards, then we will buy some of them. ^smile^

Sure, the Japanese involvement signals good news a they will make good impacts with the Bitcoin ATMS on the entire world financial system because the Japanese don't compromise on quality and being such an advanced country and with their rich population they'd make positive impact in the Bitcoin world and investors are likely to gain as a result.

I still do not believe you. True "mainstream adoption" will not come in a year and it is not coming right now. If it really is then try to get more data about it and do an analysis. Some of these "integration" are not yet proven to be there for a year or 5 years. Most of them are only joining the bandwagon.

Well it's surprising at all considering the recent adoption of bitcoin into japan and local businesses started embracing as a payment method and the implementation of Segwit will be a very good feat for BTC and will help enchance bitcoin for faster payment transactions.
It's only a matter of time there until some institutional investors will start to invest in it.

well it is starting, it may not have happened on a big scale like we all want, but it surely has started. and checking the news and also seeing all the websites of these businesses it can be seen that they have either implemented bitcoin payment in their system already or they are doing it and will be finished in a couple of days.

you are right that it is a process that will take time, but with the sudden changes everything has become much faster.

Japan is really fast in doing things and one of their motto would be time is gold. Bitcoin has really establish greatly and successfully in the Japanese community effectively in just a matter of time and been doing good which has been accepted to a lot of stores and major companies using this and now this. By the good news brought upon Bitcoin, the price will rise so high and a good popularity boost and a chance to be known throughout the world like Australia who also accepts Bitcoin and other more countries who started to consider making Bitcoin a part of their lives and help grow their economy even more. Hope that this will continue and a lot of good new will also rise up before the year ends.

I guess BTC awareness grows so fast it really does not depend whether a particular company operates in Chinese, Japanese or European market.

Still, I salute any and every service which adds to the growth of our great crypto economy!

This is great news for sure. Yea OKI are the printer manufacturer.
Japan is really taking up the Bitcoin baton and really running with it.
I recon this is also why the value is rising rapidly lately,

Leading japanese ATM manufacturer OKI has entered into Bitcoin ATM business. They are launching their first line of Bitcoin ATMs this month. The OKI electric company claims to be the first to develop world's first cash recycling ATM in 1982.It seems that all the companies who are pioneer in their fields are jumping into bitcoin industry to make utmost use of bitcoin development.

It makes sense due to airline development news from Sakura Airlines, they either produce their own units or they purchase them from somewhere else. It's nice to see a new wave of machines on the market though and hopefully usage across the country.

Believing in Bitcoins and it's ability to change the world

I'm still not sure about the rationale behind the existance of bitcoin ATMs.

Regular fiat cash is starting to disappear in favor of digital transactions and yet, with bitcoin, a digital coin, ATMs are placed around the globa handing out physical "paper" bitcoins.

I could understand if they loaded the coins directly on your phone though.

It will be interesting to try one.  Hopefully with the way the culture is in Japan they won't be vandalised like they have been in other parts of the world.
