using GUI miner running a CG miner
I checked and there is only 1 instance of miner in the tray, and in the task manager.

I've even tried system restore. no luck.
tried running phoenix too, same crappy hashrate.

5850 used to mine at 266 khash/s at 12 intensity
5850 NOW is mining at 149 khash/s at 12 intensity  Huh

5770 shows no change, still about 140 khash/s @ 12 intensity
5770 shows no change, still about 200 khash/s @ 18 intensity (more than 5850 @ 18 intensity!!!!!!)

Before, when I put the 5850 to 18 intensity, my whole pc would be sluggish at 366 khash/s
NOW with 5850 at 18 intensity, there is no noticable sluggishness at all at 168 khash/s
When I put the 5770 to 18 intensity, the sluggishness is unbearable.

Now, even 5850 at 20 intensity, there is ZERO lag on my computer.  Shocked Huh

I tried deleting the poclbm folder in the appdata/roaming and that didn't change anything.

Please help me solve this problem. I really don't want to have to do a reinstall of windows 7, this is my only pc.

Bitcoins or Litecoins?  What are your other settings (clock speed, memory speed, voltage, etc)?

litecoins, running scrypt.
Everything is stock.  I never overclocked these cards.

WTF, 3dmark says
driver 9.12.0.0 (driver not approved)
core clock 1.66 mhz
memory clock 300 mhz

I just ran 3dmark, and got
69339 ice storm
7870 cloudgate
1899 firestrike.

now I'm confused because stock 5850 is
725 core
1000 mem.

I was just about suggest check your settings.  Are you running MSI Afterburner or something else?  Sometimes they like to play games with them, especially after a restart.

You might also try re-installing drivers and see if that helps/fixes the situation.

If anything, in your CG Miner declarations you can set your clock and mem speeds, even if you are keeping them stock.

re-installed drivers. Still low khash/s

I never overclocked these cards, but I just installed msi afterburner. it shows the  core clock at 725 and mem at 1000, which is stock for the 5850.

at 18 intensity, still only about half the khash/s it was just yesterday. (168 vs over300).  Also, there is still no sluggishness to the pc at 18 intensity.

I really don't look forward to re-installing windows 7.
I don't even know where the disk is, I installed it years ago!

Only other suggestion I have come across, and actually had to do when I was using GUI and Windows back in the day was to delete your settings, including your app data files, re-install GUI and see if that helps.  Something to do with the the miners folder (phoenix or one of them).
